I have a 05 RX-8 6 Speed with 21,500 miles and my breaks are making nose that I have always associated with wornout brake pads. I read a lot of great info on replacement parts, and the Technical Service Buliton about brake noise. But many people fail to mention how many miles are on the worn out parts that they are replacing. I started this thread to get a milage/time frame of when the brake parts are wearing, so people don't have to read through a bunch of stuff to see if there stuff is wearing out too soon. I understand that driving style has more too do with this than anything, which is why I am only trying to determine a range.

Please keep it simple and supply the milage/age/part/reason you replaced your pad and/or rotors. I'm not really interested in upgrades for perfomance reasons, I am more interested in when the parts are wearing out.

I have replaced mine 7 times in 55K miles........damn tracks...they eat brake pads

 

I just replaced my rotors and pads at 28,000 km with 12 laps on Nurburgring and 4 laps of Hockenheimring on them.

 

32000 on orginal rotors and counting, just take care of them and i bet i'll double that.

 

My rotors made it to 97,000 miles.

 

pads lasted around 35k miles... rotors had minimal to no wear (as i measured anyway)

 

OEM pads lasted about 25K

redstuff pads lasted about 8K

rotors are still going.

the fronts wear out twice as fast as the rears
