This might be a bit of a trivial but I recently purchased a set of 18" OEM wheels that come with Yoko AVS ES100 that have less than 1K miles. The previous owner said he had them balanced and mounted about a month ago.

Should I mount them myself or take them to a tire shop and have them balance and mount them for me?

I appreciate your educated input in this matter.

 

Just put them on and test drive it.

 

^That's what I was thinking but a friend of mine said that I should have them properly "torqued". I've changed quite a few tires in the past and I can't imagine it affecting the car.

i feel dumber every time i get on this forum.

if they've already been balanced, then just put them on your car. if you put them on and they vibrate or feel wobbly, then take them off and have them rebalanced.

the "torquing" that your friend is referring to is simply putting your lug nuts on correctly. if you're strong enough to lift the wheels and have the mechanical ability to use a lug wrench you should be able to do this yourself.
