welp it's been fun! Moving on in life and car..

WEll, it's been a fun 2 years here guys!

Due to life changing events, I have to make a wise decision and trade in my 8 for a more economical car. I am getting married soon and buying a house.. which I would say are 2 BIG changes in my life.

I hate to say this, but I am picking up a 2001 Honda Civic coupe EX 5sp. Drivin by a granny with 70K miles on the ODO. I couldnt pass up on this deal, it has low miles and a low price tag for trade in value. Plus the 8's warranty is up in 8K miles, so I'd figure it would be best to give it up now in case something goes critical down the road.

I owed 16K for the 8, and the dealer I am working with wants to buy it for 15K. so now i owe 9K for the civic. Just right there I cut my debt down by a lot, not to mention even cheaper monthly payments ( by half) and insurance.

Who knows, maybe down the road I'll pick up an RX-8 again or the new RX's whenever that may be.

Wish you guys all the best of luck and keep those rotory engines SCREAMIN to redline for me! Riding to 9K I will miss most definately.

He owes 16k on the RX8. So it sounds like 9k for the civic.

Good luck, the civic should be reliable!

Hey, do what u gotta do man. Civic sounds like a good deal. Take care of your priorities first, then later on when your financialy ready, get another 8. Good luck

Soon as you pay off that 9k, you're going to have to get a car that can rev to 9k. Do it, or else.

Unless I did my math wrong:

Owes 16k on RX-8
Getting 15k for RX-8 trade
Buying Civic for 8k

Owes 9k in total.

Good luck. I've been there exactly. I had to sell my beloved '80 RX-7 to become a responsible member of society, all those years ago. For me, it took almost a quarter century and a paid-off mortgage to rejoin the ranks of rotary owners. So take heart, you'll be back one day if the stars align properly.

And if you find yourself the butt of Civic jokes from now on, know that it's done with affection...

sounds like a good move to me, bro. I'm in a similar boat, although i'm gonna try to fight to hell-or-high-water to try and keep the 8 in the picture. The ring and the downpayment on the house are the 2 big hurdles to jump for it all to happen.

Congrats on the house and the future marriage! Good luck with all, and we hope to still see you around on occasion!

yea.... i'm sorry Stew. '

i'll miss most of ya, but i'll post around in the lounge area and keep in touch with the latest "MS8" news and rumors! lol

yea, i'd figure I or in this case (we) will pay off this car in no time, and maybe a few years down the road a new rotory powered Mazda will be calling my name... and hopefully it will be YELLOW!

and by the way... the Pink Rx-8 Idea was really... a joke I was keeping the yellow with added pearl accents to make it better

Good luck with the life change - those can really be tough. Hey, there's always the mid-life crisis years!

But then it'll be a Porsche. Since when is the RX8 a midlife crisis car?

One good thing - at least the interest rates are down for you car / home purchase.

Forreal man, your buying her a ring, most likely forking out some serious money for the wedding and honeymoon, buying a house, and selling your RX8...

Either she's AMAZING in the sack, or your getting screwed in another sense.

No offense man, but I hope mutural sacrifices are being made.

When it comes to women or cars, you'll find that it's not the purchase price but the upkeep that kills you.
