curb rash!!
curb rash!!
I guess it was bound to happen... I'm generally unlucky.
I just hit a curb and got curb rash on 2 of my tires. Anyone know how much it costs to get them fixed, or if its even a fixable event?
Am i going to have to buy 2 new stock rims to be back to normal?
help!

They're fixable... Try to find a local wheel repair shop. It'll depend on the size, should be less than 250-300 dollars to repair. And lol @ "curb rash on two of my tires".

ok, i called around, and finally found one.
they quoted me $125 each (so 250 total) and they would need them 3-4 days.
When i asked if they had to sand it down, or do anything that would make them look smaller than stock off-the-floor look, they said no.
I dont know alot about fixing wheels, but how are they going to fix it if they dont sand off the grinded part... and how are they going to replace and "fix" the nice indented curve i have in those spots, without making the overall wheel smaller?

Ya, they should clean it up really good. Probably score it, then use a bondo-like compound that adheres to the metal. Once it dries, its sanded down and molded perfectly to be even with the rest of the rim. And I guess they'll paint it too. There's a really good BMW curb rash fix online somewhere, I think on Autopia.org. You could definetely do it yourself. I will this summer since I got some rash too.
http://www.wheelcollision.com (in Bath, PA) have a national reputation, and are very good. People ship them wheels from all over the country.
