Driving during break-in can be dangerous

So far I have almost 500 miles on the odometer. I can't wait for the break-in-period to be over.

There needs to be a national campaign on the two second rule too. When pulling away from a stoplight the drivers behind me are right on my tail, especially since I'm keeping the revs below 4k. I can't wait till I can rev the engine more and keep the tailgaters away!!!

I should really hire someone to drive a buffer car behind me...................

LOL - I like the buffer car idea - Mazda's selling so few of these these days that they could hire someone in a 3 to tail you until your 500th mile.

Yeah, driving this car during the break-in period is like dating that hot chick in highschool with the tremendous rack who doesn't like to wear a bra, but then won't let you touch them until the 5th date.

But dude, on that 5th date ... let's just say, wait until after 500 miles are gone!!

The closer people follow me, the more likely my brakes are to be applied very hard without warning. The person behind you is at fault in an accident (not that we want one to happen). What's behind you is unimportant anyways so screw them.

I drive a civic as a daily driver and short shift at 3000 rpm and I don't really have much of a problem with people getting impatient behind me. Either people are really driving to aggressively there or you are driving DAMN slow!

do like me, classic anti-tailgating technique!

when they are really close to you, swerve your rx-8 left-right-left like really fast for like 4-5 seconds, they will start to put distance, or they will pass by you(they will think you're either dangerous or drunk) works everytime for me, and we can do that cus the rx-8 handles pwnage

It hurts to get hit from behind in an rx8. The firm headrest and chassis come to mind.

If my car isn't spankin' clean, I like to turn on my windshield washers - especially if the tool behind me IS driving something shiny clean.

I will try and tap the brakes if possible, the swerve left/right method sounds cool too. Revving to 4,000 in a rotary is like revving to 2,500 in a piston engine and shifting.

I'll just have to rent some Yosemite Sam mud flaps until I hit 1,000 miles!

What an analogy! I will be thinking of this while I break mine in.

You're actually incorrect on this one, rotarygod. If it can be proven by eyewitnesses that you intentionally "brake checked" someone and they fly into the back of you, then you're the one who is considered to be at fault. Any intentional act by a driver to cause an accident immediately equals liability.

Now if no one is around and some ******* is tailgating you, check away...it's your word against his. but by no means do it in front of any witnesses.
