Painted Headlight housing

I was thinking of painting the black portion of the headlight VR to match my car. Has anyone done that so far or can anybody photoshop that? I think it would look pretty nice. Ideas? Comments? Suggestions? I'm open for them all, thanks.

a la C6 / Ferrari??

hmm, that might look interesting. You're probably going to have to cut open the headlight housings and you'll need to find a way to seal it properly to avoid moisture.

I prefer the term a la Ferrari . I work in the auto industry so I have access to the tools and sealant but I would still like opinions/photoshop to see about how it would look before I go through with the operation and it is too late to turn back Thanks for the input guys and gals. I am going to "try" to photoshop to see some reactions.

you can open them by baking them to release the sealant and then paint the insides then reseal them back together. Good luck.

Please post up some pics if/when you get finished. I have a friend that did that on his Titan and it looks great. Its a fairly inexpensive mod that might look really good..

I went with your idea since my photoshop looked like something my g/f's kindergarden students would draw. It looks very nice so as soon as I finish with the tail lights I will go ahead and open them up and get them painted. There is a chemical that we use that actually eats the bonding type of enzymes or whatever in the glue so when it is applied to the headlight around the bead it gets very goey, almost like it was baked without the hazards of baking it. It is just messy and requires a little more cleaning, but is well worth it in my opinion. I will keep you guys updated with the progress.

I does have a nice look to it,

I was thinking that it would be kind of difficult to
mask all of the non black pieces off for painting though...

But it got me thinking, I drive a sunlight silver, What would it look like if
I just shot the entire inside with sl silver. If I get hold of a spare headlamp,
I might just try it.

I think it'll look good. Let's hope the paint matches.

Damn you do a great job at photoshop! Very nice. It looks great! What I am going to do is buy a used headlight from greanleaf, take it apart and start the project. I never use my brights so I think I will use some extra projectors and plastic work and have the dual look. I can't wait to get the freaking time though. I am still working on my tail lights with the led kit I got from Rodger. I just don't have a whole lot of spare time and it has been raining a lot here causing a lot of moisture.

Much credit to scarroll for his picture so I did a little cut and paste to see what it would look like with the dual projectors. What do you think?

It's definitely a very good and original idea. I'm eager to see how this turns out. Perhaps do it to my winning blue 8 as well.

I am having a hell of a time finding any used ones or broken ones around where I live at the wrecking yards. Anyone have any to donate for the cause? I will pay for them too.
