Just bought the Kuhmo Escsta SPTs with road hazard coverage as well. Having hit a pothole the other day and tearing open my sidewall, plus a bubble in the back rear tire, I felt it was probably a good idea. It cost me $40 more, but for peace of mind.

As far as these tires performance, I've heard good things but I figured I'd ask here as well. What are your experiences with them? I will be using them as road/auto-x tires, and only in the summer... so if you have any experience with them, please let me know!

Kumho SPT is good as long as you use it moderately on the street. Forget about dry autox, good not excellent for wet. You will eat up the tread with track/dry autox. The tire is in UHP category and selling cheap for a reason. You really get what what you pay for when it comes to tire.

I will have about ~20K street/minimal autox on SPT by replacement time. It loses grip in mid-corner once past midlife. As far as performance goes, it is comparable to OEM Dunlop RE040, with better NVH. Keep in mind OEM is not great to begin with. For the price, it's a bargain alright.

 

Thanks for the insight CRX. I rode on them today and they seem pretty good -- I'll leave it until next year when I upgrade for more track-oriented tires. I have a lot of upgrades to do until then (stereo and some misc stuff) so hopefully by next year, with the tread down low it will be the appropriate time to do it.
