I am currently in the market for a rx-8. There is a dealer about 4 hours away from me that has a black 2006 touring model that they are asking $23495 for. The price sounds pretty good, but the only thing that worries me is that the car already has 600 miles on it, they say that the owner drove it. I am thinking of offering $23000, would that be too much for this car or does that sound like a good offer? Thanks.

 

i think you can do better.

invoice for a 2007 is $27,300, and that's with ZERO miles. the same car you're looking to buy would fetch $21k at a private party.

Yeah, I already checked out edmunds. After I add in the options and the mileage, they appraise the car at $24,673 as a private party value considering it a used car. This car has a $29,970 MSRP with the touring package included as a $3000 dollar premium. With all these options, the price sounds good to me, but I still don't want to pay more than I have to.

Check out the deals others have obtained on the forum.

But if Edwards agrees it is a good deal in your part of the country...

I know that in Phoenix you can do better with 0 miles.

I got my 2005 6MT GT in 2004 for $26k. Not a sparkling deal either.

Use the internet/fleet office in the dealership. You will get much better quotes than you get walking in the front door.

 

NADA trade is $20,525.....theres an additional $700 add if it has nav. This is the value the bank will use if you're looking to finance. (I know this because I'm a lender ) NADA trade is the closest you're going to get the the true vaule of the vehicle.

Sounds like you can work the dealer for a better deal...

edit: The value stated is based off of the Southeastern Edition Nada bookout....values can vary per location.
