Parking (hand) brake install

Has anyone fooled with replacing the hand brake . I bought a red one but Mazda wants the passenger sear, front and back consoles all removed and a torque wrench used. I'd probably scratch it all up and lose or break 5 fasteners in the process. Do you really have to disconnect the battery and then reset the DSC thereafter?

not sure
but if you do disconnect the battery you will have to reset dsc which is easy and instructions to do so are in the manual

I was thinking about getting the black leather one from the dealer, and looked over the instructions. The booklet was about 6 pages of instructions and included removing the passenger seat.

The dealer said there were a few shortcuts they found since they have done a few but still said its a lot of work.

The work + $200 the dealer wanted made me decide to get the Night/Foot light kit instead which was very easy to install.
