Lately, it has been getting tougher and tougher to get my shifter into 1st and 2nd.

Well, I noticed a very slight noise last night while shifting into the gears. I couldn't tell if it were a whine, or if it was struggling to go into gear or what.

It's an 04' with 37k. Do these trannies get problems this early? I have only had the car for 3k miles.

 

I have been having the same problem. This winter it became very difficult to shift and the dealer suggesting changing the gear oil with a lower-viscosity ATF. I have not noticed notible improvement. I have my car at a 2nd dealer to complaining (since last August), about the hard shifting and at highway speeds it mysteriously jumps out of 6th. Not good for the car or very safe. Any of these problems sound familar?

 

may be the syncros....check it out.
i have noticed a weird sound ....i push the clutch down,put the gear and as i leave it to come up i hear a strange noise like the pedal wants lubricant.....
any comments?
all gears work perfect and no smell of a "raped"clutch disk !

 

CYRX8, that's a common problem. Get the dealer to replace your clutch pedal assembly, it will fix it.

does anyone know where can i find synchros for the first and fifth gear?a friend of mine smashed them and from Mazda Cyprus are sold 1000 euros..around 1200 usd.i tried through internet but nothing...

 

First, get a copy of the service manual.

Then, start searching for parts on sites like onlinemazdaparts.com.

 

I noticed if I place the shifter just at the notch before going into 1st, I get some noise from under the car that keeps getting louder and louder.

 

Uh... let me guess, a 'spinning' kinda noise?

 

Yeah, I suppose you could say it is a spinning type of noise. It isn't a noise I have ever encountered on any manual gearbox's in the past.

 

I get the same type of whinning noise from first to second sometimes but the car shifts smoothly... no idea what it is i guess i'll take it in to the dealer.. i'll keep you guys posted
