Oil Change = Rough Idle = Cracked Engine Mounts?

A while back I got an oil change from the local gas station (didn't want to get dirty at the time.. from then on, I did it myself...). After the oil change I noticed my idle was really rough. I thought this was just the MAF being dirty from sloppy pouring of oil or something related to this. I was not quite sure what was going on and even wondered if it was the Royal Purple oil in the winter time.

After cleaning the MAF, changing to different oil, etc... I finally went to the dealer for a warranty checkup.... as a result need new engine mounts. I'm under warranty from the dealership that I bought the car at as well (so I have the car dealer warranty and still covered by Mazda's warranty), so they may pay for it or most of it.

When I bought the car, the engine mounts checked out OK (so says the Mazda mechanic that check it ) and the idle had always been smooth. After that oil change... idle issues.

I'm wondering if it was the type of hydraulic jack they were using or how they used it. They lifted just the front of the car, so it was at a 45 degree angle.

Is it possible that the front being lifted at too severe of an angle can cause cracked engine mounts??? Or maybe racing the engine, while at that angle might do enough to cause problem???

The proper jack spot for the front should be both side, or the center of the member

NEVER put a jack on the cross member.
It will distort and change your wheel alignment.
The ONLY jacking points on the '8 are on the frame rails and clearly marked.

The easiest way to check the motor mounts is to look at the "tongue" that is suspended in the middle of the aluminum hard mount.
If it is touching the top on either mount, its toast.
You have to do this with the car on a level surface and the engine hot.

EDIT-

You mean the FSM in the Info section.

Yeah, don't do that.
If you want a kick, try it and watch what happens. It isn't pretty.

The FSM always assumes you are going to hit the customer up for a wheel alignment after every service.
