Will these tires fit all around or should I stick to the standard 225/45/18. I just dont want the front wheels to rub. I know there shouldn't be a problem on the rear wheels but my concern is the front wheels. Any suggestions!

yup they'll fit, the car felt sluggish though. In fact, heavier than the 19's I have now.

 

I have a set of Nitto 245/40/RZ18, they fit just fine. the only thing is you might want to think about is since the that tire is not as tall, the gap between the top of the tire and the weel wheel gets noticabley larger. Its not that bad, but i could tell the difference. since then i have put on a set of Tein S-Tech springs, and it looks awesome. i love it.

The only issue with 245-40-18 on and 8 inch wide rims is a loss sharp of response to steering inputs.

 

If you put 225's in the front and 245's on the rear, will that help be perfect for steering response as well as traction?

Will steering response be affected by getting 245's in the front.

 

Don't run staggered...for lots of reasons ( search)

A lot of us run 275's or wider....steering response isn't effected...unless the alignment is wrong...245's are a nice size for street tires...they are cheaper and a lot more choices...

On an 18x8 rim, Lexus cars come with 245's. I don't know if there is a difference in price for tires. Anybody here done any comparison shopping?

 

i just bought 245/40/18 goodyear eagle f1's love them. I have run 2 autox's in them and have been out when we got like 4 inches of rain a few weeks ago. The most amazing rain traction i've ever had. I have no problems with the bigger size tire and i had no problem finding a shop to put them on either

 

In my experience, it will decrease the steering response a noticeable amount if you keep the stock rims. I went from the stock Dunlops 225/45/18 to Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-3D 245/40/18. The grip on the new tires is awesome, but the tires feel squishier and slower to react. The ride is more comfortable but the directional precision is muddled a little. Overall I am somewhat happy with this size choice because I got a good deal on them ($145 per tire), they do have a considerably more grip than the Dunlops, and they probably would be faster on a track, but I would say that they are a little less fun to drive on because of the poorer steering response. I am considering getting 9" wide rims to get my steering response back.

 

I'm thinking of getting ESCTA MX's, would there be a huge handling diffrence between 225's and 245's
I guess my question is:
Is the better handling because of a wider tire, worth the lower steering responce?

I plan on doing some AutoX events in the future, and also do a lot of "sprinted" driving through back roads.

 

There is definitely a big difference in grip between the two sizes, although it might have been exaggerated by switching from my almost bald 30,000 mile Dunlops to the new tires. I don't know much about the MXs, but with my GS3ds I definitely can take turns faster and, it may be the soft compound of the tire, the handling is a lot less twitchy, it's easier to modulate, and gives good sound feedback. I'll give you an idea of the grip: I can now floor the gas in 1st on a left hand turn from a stoplight and the rear won't lose traction; the car will just grip and take off! With the Dunlops they were sure to powerslide out. Also, the car now brakes so much stronger than before, scary good.

I guess this depends on how much weight you put on your priorities. For me, I value the steering response a little more than grip, because the response is what makes the car fun to drive and gives you confidence to flick around in traffic. For that reason I was a little disappointed at first. However, I am just now starting to appreciate the extra grip the GS3Ds give, and I am adjusting my driving style to suit it, mainly, doing smoother turn-ins and lane changes. If you are a track addict trying to squeeze the best times, then it is a no-brainer to upgrade to 245s.

Just put 245's on stock wheels and it does seem a little sluggish but it sure does have more grip. The ride is a little stiffer also. But overall the looks and grip are worth the stiffer ride.
