So, can someone confirm that the specs in dbasteve's thread (posted in the context of DBA brake products) are the numbers I want for stock rotors?

I called my local mazda dealer to schedule an oil change as I ran out of time to do it myself before my date with the dyno last month. I asked them how much it would cost and was shocked to hear $65.00. I was surprised because the oil change on my girlfriends old focus cost only 29 bucks there less than a year ago. I inquired about the price hike and this was the response: "Sir, this car has a rotating engine, it uses special synthetic oil from japan." I didn't even bother dealing with the "rotating engine" part, but did tell him that mazda specified 5w20w non-synthetic. He checked with the parts dept, and came back to tell that while it was non-synthetic, it was special mazda oil (ie the oem generic oil from mazda) and that was why it was so expensive.

Moral of the story, just because they sold you the car doesn't mean they know dick about it.

 

Yes, 16mm. 16.8 if turned with a lathe on the car.

 

Where did you see the non synthetic spec?

My manual specifies 5w20 oil. API certified, thats all.
