R1Concepts Brake Rotors

http://www.r1concepts.com/?gclid=CML...FQM6gQodDhMSMg

Anyone use these?

Are they any good? Any issues?

I was thinking of getting the R1 rotors and the Hawk pads.

Thanks.

I have the Slotted R1s and Hawk HPS pads. No issues but I have only put 5000 on them.

I'd appreciate an update as this purchase is not likely to happen for a few months. The brakes are fine, possibly a little warping on the front rotors, but nothing that is all that noticeable.

Plus I have BB, so I really like the fact the inner rotor is powder coated black.

And I would appreciate any other input too as far as how the rotors hold up, espcially high heat warping.

And thanks for the hint that we might get a break on price if we mention rx8club.com

I have the R1's and have had no problems with them. Say 15000 miles so far.
When I recieved them I did repaint the hats. the paint had chipped during shipping.

my advice: get the zinc plating and then paint the hats before installing them

That sucks. I thought they were powder coated. I didn't realize it was just paint. I'll have to see if I can get the zinc plated ones powder coated black since I have a BB.

Thanks!

Bumping for pics and I have a couple of questions.

Which brake pads did you use?
How easy were the rotors to remove? I read somewhere you need an impact wrench to get the rotors off because of a bolt, but I haven't had the time to find a diagram that shows this bolt.

Thanks.

When I had my Millenia, I bought some rotors from these guys, took 3 weeks for them to even tell me they were back ordered. I cancelled the order, the customer service is pretty crap...

I just ordered mine today. They are going to be ready on Monday (today is Friday), and since I live in OC I am going to just go by and pick them up. I'll post the pictures when I get them on.

Can you take a pic of the rim when it is shiny?

LOL at mysql101 "jfyi, u suck at car washing. hehe"

I meant an impact screwdriver, but I think you know what I meant, so thanks for the info.

Looks nice and I dig the calipers. Painted or powdercoated?

the racing brake rotors are EDP coated...

http://www.wilcoxmf.com.au/pages/edp.htm

Anyone know how durable EDP coatings are? My existing rotors are actually okay, but the paint that I put on the rotor hubs is starting to flake. so the last thing I want is to upgrade then find a similar problem.

These R1's just came off a 9-2x (same as WRX) guy's car after 1 track day. He had just put 'em on and was really excited about purchasing them and their great price. Note several cracks.
Just a heads up.....

Simply don't use cheap cross drilled rotors at the track.
As opposed to those rotors, your car is designed for the track

Valuewise, a set of cheap blanks will fare rather well at the track (for the most part).
