Toronto Dealers/Availability

Virgin post on this forum. Great job by everyone so far. So much stuff to get up to date with.

Anyway, I ordered a Red GT 6sp with roof from Gyro Mazda. Delivery at end of October (hopefully). Has anyone else dealt with them? Looking for some feedback.

The wait has been killing me and this forum has not helped !!!. Has anyone seen this spec. available anywhere around the GTA? I want to spend as much time as I can driving before the snows have to go on !!!

Taffy, for a few grand more you can get one TODAY!

Bank St. Mazda in Ottawa has a Red GT with Moon Roof and Navigation, maybe your dealer can trade with them and get yours now?

Just on a related Subject, did anyone of you managed to take advantage of any special deals like the CAA membership deal. I know in Westowne Mazda, they have it and there are people who got their Mazda6 for about $750 over the invoice. Just wondering if anyone tried this and have gotten a good deal out of it.
(not sure if this is applicable to the RX-8)

Thanks.

Thanks Wing. What do people think about the usefulness of the Nav system in Canada? Does it add value to the car on resale?

The navigation is DVD based. Which unlike Satilite, you would have to update it every year. This could get costly, and thats why I avoided the nav all together. But it does look cool

Yes it is DVD based, I wouldn't say you HAVE to update it every year. I have maps that are ancient they still work just as well now as they did in 1970.

It's a gadget really, not work the $$$ to me but it is cool

Nav

I would think that Nav will add to resale value as Nav systems become more common.

Personally, I like the Nav. In the GTA it is very detailed and complete. Very useful for finding places. Like ZoomZoom said to me: he never thought he would ever buy Nav until he rented a car that had it. Then he figured he would never have a car without it. $3K is a lot of dough, but when you consider all you are paying for the car it really isn't too bad.

I won't buy another car without it.

I definitely was not intent on getting the NAV not only because of the cost, but the practical usefulness of it. Problem was I had to get it if I wanted my Lightning Yellow right away.

Do I LOVE it now. I swear I will not purchase another vehicle without it now. Maps are limited up northern Ontario, but they are pretty detailed and accurate down here. The maps should be updated on a regular basis for of course more money.

You will not regret the extra money spent, and it will add to resale as these will become more and more popular.

Thanks for the views on the Nav system. I just don't see my self using it since the vast majority of the time, I know the route I need to take.

Just going back to my original questions:

- Has anyone dealt with Gyro Mazda?

- Does anyone know of a Red GT 6sp with roof available?

I'd appreciate any responses.

Cheers

Thanks.
What you're referring to is purchasing a car for "Fleet" pricing. You can get the same deal if you know someone in the car biz (at any dealership). I have a friend with a Toyota dealership, and he has sold BMWs, Lexus, etc. to friends for Fleet pricing. They order the car from the other car manufacturer....and get a percentage over cost, and pass on some service charges to you.

I doubt Mazda would allow Fleet purchases of the RX-8 because of the rarity & newness of the car....and all that aside, I'm not sure the markup on the car is even significant enough to yield big savings with this approach.
