Whats a good dealer in the bay area to get warrenty work done?

I am having problems with almaden mazda, they won't go past 4k rpm to check problems I am having with my transmission at higher rpm. What dealer can I goto that won't give me a problem?

Hayward Mazda (510-865-2000) all the way!!! Talk to Jeff in service. I sent him over a few local 8's and they are all happy with him. Tell him David sent you there.

Does Hayward Mazda have problem with aftermarket parts? The other was giving a hard time because of my act clutch.

Don't go to Almaden Mazda. They've had their three strikes with me. Peter the service advisor is a great guy, but their techs are even worse than the normal dealer monkeys.

I have an intake, exhaust, rb spark plug wires and the rb flash. the service guy knows what part effects what. I habe never had a problem with them. What problem are you having? What is it doing at higher rpm's?

Its doing it at lower rpm nows, so about 4k rpm when shift from 2nd into 3rd it will grind. The higher the rpm the louder the grind. Should I ask for Jeff when I make the appointment?

Yup, he's the service manager. But that might be your pressure plate not tightened up correctly when you put in the clutch. Who did the install for you?

almaden mazda installed, now they saying they can't look at my transmission b/c I have aftermarket parts. It only grinds going into 3rd, could that be due to the pressure plate.

If they installed it, it should be warrented by that dealership. But just tell Hayward that it's making noise and if they ask about the clutch tell them Almaden installed it.

Hayward Mazda is great. Jeff is great guy, he really helps you out and tells you all your options. My car isn't fixed yet Mazda is giving a hard time to clear the work b/c of the other dealership. I wish I went straight to Hayward then I wouldn't have deal with any of this bullshit. Hopefully I can get everything fixed this week.

Menlo Mazda is supposedly the worst dealership in the area for sales. Not sure about their service dept. though.

I had previously ordered the washer as a special item twice from them and yet they couldn't even be bothered with reusing my washer.

Menlo Mazda is horrible. I kind of regret buying my GT with 60,000miles for 18K...And it's been 3 months they still haven't sent me my plates. And they only gave me one master key and "lost" the spare. And won't do anything to compensate.

Has anyone had tires mounted and balanced by Hayward Mazda by bringing in your own tires? The quote given $50 for four sounds too good to be true, for RX-8.

Btw, Jeff does not seem to be working at Hayward service dept anymore. There are just J&J & Josie as listed on the homepage.

Apparently Jeff left for personal reasons. A bummer. $50 does seem pretty rad though. If you end up going let us know how it turns out.

OK, update on the tire change as performed by Hayward Mazda:

Visited twice in two weeks due to tires not arriving in time from DTT. The dealership honored the initial $50 quote, though the going price is actually $100. There is also a $10 disposal fee on old tires. Old stick-on weights were removed with new stick-on added during balancing. No obvious marks left from mounting+balancing, since my street wheels are not in the pristine condition to start with. Car was returned without finger marks along the door opening headliner, another plus. A thumb up from me all-around. Even at $100, it is still reasonable, considering that your TPMS is covered with the dealer doing the tire change.

Will definitely go back for future needs. Can't say the same for Oak Tree ($160 for tire change as quoted on the phone) and Almaden.

A side note, the service dept just went thru another major turnover with J&J and Josie terminated, following Jeff's departure. Dwayne is the new service personnel. He is efficient and courteous in my limited encounter, so a positive change in my book.
