caution on Revi install/mantaince
Recently I removed my maf and K&N filter for rountine care and during the takedown I noticed that the intake screen was torn. The screen was actually ripped on one side. Well --not having another I put it back together and to my surprised my car now runs better than it did. Now i really didnt think much of this, just said "well my dng luck etc", but then i read another entry in the forum from one of my friends in the SE section and he found the same thing. His screen was torn. This is not good as it is possible for the engine to suck a piece of that wire into the rotary
! In thinking about this the only conclusions that I can think of is
1- during the inserting of the maf tube the screen can be damaged
2- if the velocity stack tube clamp is not good and tight (his had fell off) it is possible for it to move around and damage the screen.
So --just a word of caution. Be careful inserting the maf tube into the revi box and make sure it is in the proper position. Also be sure all clamps are snug.

yea,
od, are you talking about the maf screen, or the screen that covers the filter?
btw. i find that if you drop the filter on the ground, then reverse leaf blower the filter. it gets clean...
pics would be great. focus on focus...

I am screenless--my car has the best idle it has ever had. wierd. idle actually holds at 900-1k on stopping for about 2-3 secs and then drops to the normal 800 or so(no loads). I had heard that most peoples idle suffers if the screen is removed.
Yea Swoope I am talking about the maf screen. Its a pretty tight fit in getting the maf tube back on the system and I guess I moved it around too much or at the wrong angle and unknowingly ripped the thing.

First off, my question was retarded. I have no idea what I was thinking when I thought that
Second, I'm dying to try and get more sound out of my REVi now that I went back to the stock exhaust. I'm thinking of any small way to increase sound without cutting the RB intake box up. I might experiment this weekend with cutting the REVi opening larger or capping off the resonator on the accordian tube.

Hope your car wont stall. Thats what happened to alot of people who has the screen removed. It wont just stall on you , it idles fine and stuff but it might just shut off for no reason when you're driving ... so just careful. Happened to me once, put the screen back, 1+ yrs no problem.
just wanted to comment in this thread that i also don't have a screen in my intake. i have the k&n typhoon2 w/ the VFAD disabled. been fine for over a year. just ordered a rb duct so i'm hoping the extra air won't cause any issues.
My car is loud enough without any catback exhaust. All I have is Revi intake and duct. We all did an experiment and my car was the 3rd loudest only to be beaten by the guys that had both the intake and exhaust.
