I changed my muffler and the whole pipe system and then my engine light went on and mazda is telling me i have to change my catalytic converter. I just wanted to know what you guys think about this and what should i doo im very stuck on this.

 

Covered under warrenty for 80,000 miles due to US law.

Or better yet get the RP Super CAT.

 

but they are tellig me its aftermarket so they wont changet it. ( Canada) Any sugestion to what i should get?

 

is the cat aftermarket?

they have to cover this. your exhaust system is post cat, it would do nothing to cause the death of you converter.

What exactly do you mean by this? What exactly did you change? Did you run all new pipes from the FRONT to the BACK?
Or did you buy an Exhaust "system" such as Racing Beat, Greddy, HKS, etc?

Ok so you bought the car from this dealer and they knew it had a pure aftermarket exhaust system from motor to the muffler. I'd wager with some minor bitching you could have them replace the cat that the "previous owner" installed for the OEM Cat. I'd use the agrument of "I bought the car from you, I was never told or warned that my exhaust would not be covered due to the previous owners modifications if so I would of asked it to be returned to stock or simply bought another car.". Hopefully they'll realize this logic of you didnt do this someone else did, and help you out and just replace it for free or if all else half off. You could also post in the For Sale section asking if anyone has a stock cat they want to get rid of for sale or for free

 

How much does the dealer want to charge for a cat?
