I thought your car was sold, did you get a new ride for the season?

I should be on some Konis and 275/40/17 RT615's

Never did get new tires.. I sold my car. Right now I'm rolling a Mazda 3s! It's 2.4 litres of zoom zoom!

I'm going to drive that for now... and probably autocross it until I buy my next "present to myself"...

This is what I "plan" to get in 2008 - should all things go well.

Lets play the guessing game. Does anyone know what this is?

HELL Yeah!! It will have more HP and torque than any (stock) Evo to date (or so I think)! That combined with the latest in computer controlled AWD with yaw control... it'll be awesome. Should put the STIs in their place for sure.

Disclaimer: the purchase of this vehicle is dependent upon things going according to plan... (mo money!)

Should be fun - im in NE Fort worth - and my birthday is march 12th heh

How far - not far. It's in Bedford. Go south on the tollway then go West towards the airport (take a right) on George Bush. Take the 635 exit and continue to go West until you get to the DFW airport. Then, go West some more on 121 for about 15 minutes until you get to Bedford. Take the Central Drive exit, go south and it's right there. http://www.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en...ntral+Dr+76022

How much does it cost?
Event Pre-registration $20 for members, $30 for non-members, using pre-registration/online.
Onsite Registration is $20 for members and $30 for non-members.

Do I need a helmet?
Yes, you need a helmet. The club does have a few loaner helmets that are available.

What else do I need?
We also recommend you bring basic supplies with you, things like water, sunscreen, rain gear, and basic tools. We run rain or shine.

I know where you're coming from with this and I do agree with you. I have heard many a bad thing about Mitsubishi. However, I'm hoping they have turned things around and are making things better these days.

One possible indicator of their inreased commitment to quality is their new warranty program.

Basic 5 yr. / 60,000 mi.
Drivetrain 10 yr. / 100,000 mi.
Roadside 5 yr. / Unlimited mi.
Rust 7 yr. / 100,000 mi.

I actually live not too far from you and most events are about 90 minutes away each way out past ft worth/weatherford. You're welcome to follow me out, I also suggest you take the Porsche Club Autocross 101 school Feb 18. Google Maverick PCA and look on their website for details.

Also stock tires are just fine, I ran half a season last season on the stock Bridgestones and actually trophey'd in the end of the year for my class with the BMWCCA autocross.

PM me if you're interested, I'd be glad to show you the ropes.

Might be worth giving it a try. Last time I ran an autoX it was at Pennington in my shifterkart. That got sold a few weeks ago.

Have they got a street tire class? Not that it really matters.

Yes, they have a whole series of Street Tire Classes, where you will be put in that class depends on your other modifications. The people at registration can tell you what class you'll be that day, just make sure to get there a bit early.

FYI,

Here is a comprehensive list of all '07 autocross events in DFW. The Texas Region SCCA isn't the only game in town. Equipe Rapide, Maverick Region PCA, Lone Star BMWCCA, and the North Texas S2000 Owner's Club also put on events.

I'll be out at as many events as I can make. Look for the Nordic Green RX-8, #75 B Stock. Come up and introduce yourself. I've been doing this for close to a decade now, and I'm always happy to offer rides or tips.

BTW, I also highly encourage anyone who is interested in the sport to enroll in the Maverick Region Porsche Club of America AX101 and AX102 autocrossing schools. Great bang for the buck, with plenty of one-on-one instruction and seat time. I'll be instructing at the AX101 school again this year, and perhaps at AX102 & TT103 as well.

Does that mean you'll be too busy to help equip yet another NT RX8 with a set of Konis

I don't know about that, but it does get harder to find time in my household for tech days once the season gets rolling...

Am I to undertstand this as meaning you need help installing them?

If so, I may be able to help you out but you'll need to buy, borrow, or rent (from Autozone) a set of spring compressors and a torque wrench.

Thanks for the offer but Iain has kindly offered to help me put them in sat morning. I went ahead and got some Mazdaspeed springs to go them as well. I'll report back when it's all put in.

BTW I ran into the kid that bought your car in carrollton, he could barely drive it. Leaving the light it took him a few tries to get it from 1st to second
