Just thought I would post some pics of the new car taken since my return for the holidays in Missouri. I have had the car for about 5 weeks now and already have 3200 miles and one oil change on her. Its been an excellent car for the long-haul trip from St.Louis to NM, and the variety of news and entertainment stations on the Sirius help keep me awake. Overall a great car owning experience especially when the road gets crooked....

 

I love that interior. Is it hard to keep clean!?

I originally planned on buying a GG GT w/black leather, but then found out that it was a high mileage demo. After driving the Shinka I found that the alcantara is a more comfortable interior and a bit more plush. You also don't slide around on the seat in the corners like you do on the smooth leather surface. As to the wear and tear, I can't speak for the Mazda seats yet, but I did own one of the first S4's to hit the shores with the Nogaro Blue paint and blue alcantara seat inserts. During the time I had the car, the alcantara never posed any problems and was pretty easy to take care.

I think it depends on the owner though. I personally never eat or drink in my cars and I am not a smoker. I would guess that a coffee spill on the alcantara would be a bad deal and that it would also soak-up the smell of cigarette smoke more than a conventional leather. If you like to drink, eat and smoke in your car, I would guess that the acantara will not hold-up as well.

i have to say though that interior is killer... a nightmare to keep clean i imagine but killer.. i love the matching cup holder covers too

 

Thanks for the comments folks..being 48 and a neat freak makes it easier to have an interior like that. Its a great car...but most of you already know that!!
