Strakes- Opinions/comments needed!

Guys,
Umm lets just say that I'm looking at the "possibility of producing" fenders strakes for the 8. I have a question I'd like some comments on from those of you who have the strakes also. Looking at the OEM set I have, are the RU and LU made from the exact mould, just flipped over? and vice versa for the RL and LL? I'm leaning towards the fact that they are exactly the same, just for the tops, and same for bottoms, which would make life a little bit easier for me. Am I right in my assumption?

Thanks

Andy

i don't have them so i can't comment on that but my question is, what material are you considering producing them from? there are already some pretty inexpensive ones out there unless you plan on doing the aluminum ones. you have my curiosity piqued.

The Strakes will be produced using ALUMINUM. They will be polished to a shine of course!

So who makes inexpensive strakes??

If I understand your question correctly...

Yes, the top strakes for both sides are mirror images of each other, along with the bottom ones.

...it would be weird to have anything on the exterior of the car to be unsymmetrical, except for the gas door of course, and perhaps the the tail lights...I'm rambling....

www.rx8strakes.com sell plastic, painted strakes.

well what i think andy is asking is "are the sides (bottom and top) of the strakes the same." if they were different, molds for each side would need to be made. if the bottom and top are the same, then only two molds would be needed.

Andy,

Here is the site where a lot of us have gotten our strakes. I actually had the OEM strakes and swaped to these because the OEM strakes weren't really polished. And I could definitely see where the OEM strakes are all the same mold just swaped over.

Well, you already have a set of our "inexpensive" strakes, which are a modified OEM design. Not sure what other help we can give you!

Good luck with the new strakes!

What's up Andy ? Yeah, I blew my motor. I have my ideas of why (cough, cough Greddy) but there are some really defensive posters on here that want 100% proof before they blame something. So I am in the process of changing out the engine to NA again. Almost done, bit little problems keep on popping up. Needless to say, to spend a ton of money to make your turboed engine reliable, only o blow it up, then having to basically spend a small fortune to turn it back to stock again has been painful. Now Mazda has voided my warranty and gives me a really hard time everytime I want something done. needless to say frustrating through all this.
