Are you keeping your RX-8?

I sent my letter today, I'm keeping the car.

I was interested in how many of us (who own the car) are planning to keep vs return.

I plan on keeping it. What's with the 12hp??

Only thing that is going to make me return it is, loss of job in the next 3 weeks.

I suppose the 12 HP is how it was to me. I placed my deposit on a 250HP car. It did drop to 247 before I picked it up, but that seemed unimportant. Now that it has gone to 238, I was counting the full drop from 250. YMMV

Well, lets hope you don't lose your job Wing! I was in the position of worrying about that not so long ago myself, and I suppose it is still a possibility. But they'll have to pry this eight out of my cold dead fingers...

Lets face it: we'd rather have the job than the 9 horsepower, right?

I sent my letter in today - there's never been any question that I'm keeping it! I also need to get my first free service in the next 2 weeks or so - I'm at 7950 km right now!

Regards,
Gordon

I'm most likey going to keep mine.

But they offer us only $500. When they messed up with the miata, they offered them more then that. So today i'm going to call mazda canada and say

4% of $40,000 is $1600. Thats what we should get

No, they didn't. $500 was it. Someone elsewhere has posted that some people held out and got $1500 - that's BS. There was no increased payment for holdouts - the offer was $500 and free service, and that was final. I'd be pretty certain that this $500 and free service offer is final, too.

Regards,
Gordon

Thanks for the clarification Gord. I think i'll be happy with the $500 and free service then

I'm keeping mine. I do not know if I would have noticed an 8 HP loss, but I know for sure I will notice the $500 and free servicing. No doubt about that.

I'm keeping mine too! Sent the letter this morning. The loss of HP (officially) has not ruined my enjoyment of the car (or the looks I get etc ...) I hope to have this baby for a loooooong time.

Guess I should change my vote. I fully intended keeping mine, and I'm going to hate to see it go, but having been given three weeks' notice on Friday, I think I may need to take Mazda's golden parachute.

Well the poll says "10" returning but I voted to keep mine (can't change it now), voted too early I guess.

I know of 7 in Canada returning now.

Once Oct 1st is past I'll post another poll, let's find out how many REALLY did return it.
