Rusty brake caliper.

Alright. So i've been keeping an eye on my calipers since they started developing some rust and noticed that the rust is growing everyday. Should I worry?

Is this something that can be fixed under warranty?

Your caliper or your rotor? It's a bit unusual for rust on a caliper to grow rapidly, I think. However, I don't think you'd ever get a dealer to do anything about it, as it won't affect the performance/function of the caliper at all, and the oxidation of a piece of metal exposed to the elements is normal, in general.

That being said, grab a bottle of G2 brake caliper paint, take your wheels off one sunny day, give them a good scrub/clean with a degreaser and/or some brake cleaner and paint those bad boys!

Thanks for the advice. I might just paint them silver or black. Should i use a brush of some sort to scrub the rust off with the degreaser and brake cleaner?

It just seems odd that these calipers would rust so fast. I have 31k miles on the car and have had the car for 1 year and 3 months now. I was my car pretty often too. It just doesn't seem right. Just makes the car look cheap....sigh.

Anyone have this happening on their calipers?

I still think you mean rotors not calipers, but any way yes, use wire brush and brake cleaner.

Actually, all four of my calipers are rusty. The rotors have some too, but not as bad as the calipers. Is it agreed that a wire brush and some paint is in order? How do I paint them without removal? Brush paint them very carefully?

I may just get some aftermarket brakes anyways. I'm at nearly 23k, and have some squeaking anyways.

Actually my left front caliper has some rust too - I was wondering if anyone else had that happen to theirs. I guess so...

I'm pretty sure it's the calipers that I'm talking about.

You can just get a small can of rustolum from homedepot and repaint them
