Taking out CD player and Aux input?

I have a 2004 Rx8 that I need to take out the cd player to hook a xm radio and a iPod through a aux input. Does anyone know how to take out a CD player on a Rx8? With the dash how it is I am clueless but can figure it out once I find a place to get started. I can't find anything online showing diagrams or what not to do that. Also do you know if the 04's even have a aux input or am I going to have to add one? Please let me know, thanks!!

Maybe try the "Interior, Audio, and Electronics" forum on this site? Just a thought.

Why not buy the Mazda Ipod link cable from the dealer. It plugs straight into the back of the head unit. You get to keep your CD player and still are ableto plug an ipod in, and have full control of the ipod via the steering controls.

I wouldn't screw with it. Take it to mazda and have them put in the Mazda Ipod adapter....

I put in my own iPod adapter. It was fun, and not that hard at all. It's all pretty straightforward, except for one bolt thats tucked up on the drivers side of the center console... you kind of have to twist your socket up past the brake pedal to get to it. If you have the RPM kit from this thread:https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-interior-audio-electronics-24/your-ipod-mp3-player-integration-solution-here-77790/ it comes with really good instructions that tell you everything you need to know. Otherwise, just search for a how-to.
