Speaker Question

If a sub is rated at 500 watts does this mean it can handle 500 watts continuous RMS? All this is new to me so any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanx!

No way to tell from your question. Most subs will specify both the continuous & max power handling, but some cheaper subs will use the max power rating to make them sound better.
