Sirius antenna placement

I'm thinking about getting the Sirius Unit from mazda installed, however I don't want to have an antenna on my truck (as my dealer suggested they would put it) or really any where outside of the car so I'm wonder where have other people installed it ?

There is a thread somewhere where a guy put it under one of the plastic anchor things on the rear deck lid... It was wild.. do a search see if you can find it..

My antenna wouldn't fit in there though so I have it on my dash in the center all the way up against the glass with the wire looped through the defrost vent so it won't move.. then i ran the wire in the groove between the pass side and center dash pieces.. I have never lost signal or anything and it's not that hard of a run to make

You can put it under the anchor. Only if you do not have tint though. If you do have tint or are thinking about it, the signal will not penetrate the tint.

Well that's BS. Seeing as how I've done just that. I'll get a picture taken and post it and FYI, my Sirius reception is just fine.

got the sirius radio and installed it in the ash tray(helping me quit smoking faster)ran the wire under the silver trim into the trunk under the weather stipping to the deck lid.i had the antenna on the back deck under the childs latch but the signal wound go down and out sometimes so it's on the trunk for now and the windshield idea sounds like i will be moving it again.(this is great no drilling no holes no mess!)by the way my glass is tinted also.hope this helps.it did for me and i give total props to the guy who posted the diy mod for the ash tray install and wire install was so easy!!

Here is the pic of my Sirius antenna. Right at the back of the rear deck. You'll notice I do have tinted windows. The only time I lose reception compared to my old car with an external antenna is on streets with lots of tree cover. I'll manage.

I have mine mounted in the exact same location. I don't have tinted windows and the only time the signal breaks up is when I drive under a bridge on the freeway.

I mounted it there so that the antenna would not break up the lines of the car. I see that other car companies have satellite antennas that match the color of the car. Mazda though does not. That is another reason why I decided to mount it at the back of the rear deck.

I have mine mounted on the front dash up by the windshield on the passenger side.

Looks like it belongs there and never loses the signal.
