Actually now I recall I had a couple instances of condensation in my taillights on humid days after I washed it. Not large
amounts of water like some have had but a little condensation. It went away after a day or two. No harm done.

Yep, warranty will cover. Just make sure you say water in the taillight. I'm not sure how Mazda works, but I said condensation in the taillight in my GM vehicle and GM would only cover WATER. So I came back and said water and they replaced it. Had the same issue with my 8, told Mazda I had water in the taillight and I got a fresh unit.

But yes, it's covered.

i unfortunately recently had a bad experience with this same issue. my passenger side was completely covered with condensation (not buckets of water) with our last rain fall here and before I could get it to the dealer it had all gone away and the dealer said they couldn't replace it if they didn't see it, and to bring it back when it happens again I did take pictures of it but didn't have them printed out when I had my girlfriend take it in for me.

I noticed that it happens when there is a drastic change in weather.

I, too have water in the passenger tail light, and called the dealer about it. He said they would try to repair it when I brought it in for service. I said, no way are you repairing this light, there is standing water in the bottom of it. So I drove to the dealer to have him look at it, and he did not even hesitate, just ordered up a new one. The really odd part of this is, I keep my car garaged and covered during the week when not in use, and do not drive it in incliment weather. So how did the water get in there?

if you are not covered by warranty (like me) - just drill two very small (about 2.0mm) holes in the bottom of the lens . It works .

If your car is under warranty, why not fix it? It might get worse as time goes on.

There is a service bulletin on this problem I believe.

I fixed it by trading it in. But to each his own.

There is no specific service bulletin on this issue. There is however a SB on a clearence issue between the trunk lid and taillight housing on some 8's that could cause the housing to split or crack when the trunk is closed to hard. This in turn can cause water to get in. http://www.finishlineperformance.com...8-04-1248a.pdf

I thought I had escaped this one. But mine fogged over just after our first freeze here a couple of weeks ago and at 59k miles, I'm out of warranty. Gues I'll have to pony up for a new one. Anyone know how much they cost?

Mine only gets condensation at the corner of both tail lights. As TransAmkid01 already stated, this happens when there is a drastic change in weather.
