I'm in love with this model, one of the rarest rotaries.

first a couple sad ones
they are such beautiful cars, so rare too which adds some mystery to them.

.
.
and now a couple clean ones , i luv the blue one.

here's the link if you would like to see the whole set.
http://members.***.net/spirit_r/picture.html

some can argue about maintenence, engines blowing up, whatever other skeletons follow the FD's around, but i believe all of us just drool over the spirit R.

enjoy!

Keep in mind that Spirit Rs are actually 2001 RX-7, quite new... or is it 2002? We think of FDs as 10yrs old+ cars... Its amazing to have a RX-7 with the quality/fit and finish/maybe some gadgets availble a few years ago

i believe its a special edition 2002 rx7, only 1500 made, final production year. Plus the dealers in japan were heavily limited to the number of spirit R's they could get, i think 2 or 3 per dealer.

The last one did roll off the production line in 2002, think it was August 2002 to be exact. A used Spirit R can still command close to $38-$40K in Japan. I'd be happy with any of the '99+ JDM RX-7s. Quite fond of the Bathurst Type R myself.

Ah just thinking about it brings back the memories of my '93 RX-7 R1. Vintage Red, bought new in '93, sold in pristine shape in '98. I often regret ever selling her (close your ears my darling RX-8).

The law states you cant have more than 280ps and go over 180km/h, hence the 180k speedo, now they changed it.

That is false... It produce ~ 290-300hp (even though it was advertised to be 280 hp (206 kW) (with 310 Nm (228.7 ft.lbf)) and in stock trim it can hit the 1/4 in 13.2 secs.

No... because the rx8 and the rx7a re two completely different cars. mazda wont be able to sell any rx8s if they made it a pure sports car like the rx7. it was amde to be practical for everyday use also.

edit: iirc some guy in california imported a factory fresh Spirit R FD ( with 1.1 miles and the interior still wrapped with factory plastic covers) for amore than 60k dollars.

It has Twin Turbos (not just the same twins we have for the 93-95 FD but updated and more efficient twins) too.... so... you can expect a lil more from that.

I'd say prices held flat, though they did seem to go up after the first Fast & the Furious movie. Amazing thing is if I still had the car now, and in the same condition, I'd probably be able to sell it for about the same money as I did back in '98.

Nope, the US. Ironically, I sold it because I moved to Japan for a little while. I live in Honolulu now, but still go to Japan on a regular basis. It kills me every time I see one of those beautiful late model RX-7s on the streets of Tokyo. Love drooling over the Skyline GT-R's too, but I'd still take the 7.

2001 fd's have beeng known to dyno at 260+ rwhp and I have seeng ( on the internet) a car that dyno 273rwhp the same day they dyno a rx-8 at 186rwhp , so the dyno was working fine, also this cars are capable of 13 flat in the 1/4

the fd is a moder classic, someone must be crazy to sell one in good shape( or really need the money )

now a mazdaspeed rx-8 with 240rwhp would be pure sex!
