Trading a 02 s2k for a g35 coupe

Well the wife is ready for a new car to replace her car. and she wants a g35, This is a person who owned a 92 turbo Mr. 2 then to a s2k. she loves how both felt while driving, and loved how both looks. but now she finds g35 a sexy car (her words). this weekend we are suppose go test drive one. im hoping she doenst like how g35 feels when driving. meaning nimble like feel. she loves how the rx8 feels.

so any one who has driven a g35 is it any where near as nimble as the s2k or 8? Me and her both test drove a 05 z but she didnt like how it felt. so im hoping it will be the same for the g35. I havnet tried to convince her to keep her car (its not like she drives it any ways. she alwyas drive my 8) since it is what she wants. but hard to let go a good car. so im just trying to get feel from the ppl who drove the car what they thought. thanks and woot its friday

the g35 is completely new for 2007. bigger engine. newer styling. i would wait for that or look for huge rx-8 type deals on 06 g35s

If she always drives your 8, then what makes this decision hard?

put the bias aside and let her decide

the 350 gives better track times but a lot of people prefer the g35s driving feel. doesn't hurt to get backseats and better service for only a bit more $..

Yah i feel yah. reason it's hard is, i cant tell her what she should have. it is not me to say. if i could i would, but not place.

and the person who said stop being bias. i like how the g35 looks im not going to lie. but i modded the s2k first since she was driving the 8 more then her car. so that is why im having a hard time letting it go. if i left it stock i wouldnt mind. the 8 is pretty much stock with just sway bars front and rear and coilovers, but i still not trade that car in. But like i said, i have not tried to convince to keep the 2sk, because she wants something new. i cant stop her wanting something new. its not my place to do so. that is why i am hoping she doesnt like the car but if she does then so be it. hmm maybe best for me just to not know and just drive the car openminded not knwing what to expect. aaa sayaku ima no boku no atama totemo itai desu

It kinda sounds like your wife's tastes are similar to my wife's. Of all the cars I've owned, she liked driving the Type R the best, followed closely by the RX-8. She seems to not enjoy tons of low-end torque, but wants the car to take off if she leaves her foot in it. She never liked driving my CL-S, with 232 lb-ft. of torque at 2000 RPM, and she does not enjoy the STi. At all. Period.

If your wife enjoyed the S2K, that's another example of a car that is very docile at low RPMs (although you may have modded it to the extent that this was no longer a "feature" of the car).

If she doesn't like the G35, maybe she's just more suited to lower-torque, higher-revving sports cars...

In which case you should wrap a big red bow around your RX-8, drop the keys into a very expensive "just because" Hallmark card, give it to her, and go buy yourself a 'Vette.

ahh you modded the s2k, giving you a sense of ownership. i was under the impression when you said her car, that it was something she bought, she maintained, etc.

whole different can of worms go test the g and let loose. my feeling is you have nothing to lose.

I'd only buy the 2007 model if buying new. And wait for the 2008 coupe if you wanted a 2 door.

Have you considered keeping the S2K, and trading in the RX8 for the G35 for her to drive? If you have grown fond of this S2K, then you might want to open the door to letting the RX8 go, if you really feel that way. I guess if you want to please the wife, and she really does end up loving the G35, one of these cars is gonna have to go. Good luck in your decision.

you are right. but yah if it does come down to it ill trade in the s2k. ill just put all stuff back to stock (glad i kept all my orignals, even though the wife kept begging me to get rid of them due to space issues ). i have some friends that i can sell the parts to. I bet he will be glad to buy my mugen hardtop that is only 2monts old . i am very happy i kept stock appearence on the car (kit wise), even though my friends kept on begging me to get a kit.

so yah s2k will be traded if she ends up liking the car. i cant give up my 04 8, i dotn think i can give up a car that i love as much my fc that i gave up to come to america for school.

thanks guys, i would of post this type of topic on s2k forums. but i know what they woudl say even if they havent driven a 35.

There's also the new lexus IS350 and at that point might as well look at the Bimmer 330i. You know, just to round out the competition and make sure she has all the information on what her options are.

I would hold off buying a G35 coupe until it gets the new and improved engine.

The sedan is getting the new VQ35HR engine for 2007 but the coupe is not. The new engine sounds like it's going to be a significant improvement over the old one.

IMO it'd be a shame to buy the the old one just before the new engine is available.

i personally do not know alot of women who drive porsche boxsters, but from what you're telling us about her personal tastes in "how a car feels" she might really enjoy a used (not to used) boxster.

This would not be the same type of response in this thread if he was talking about unloading his RX8 for a G35. I definitely don't recommend going on the S2K forum and posting this, as the partiality, as with any car forum will bombard you with bias. With that said, It's obvious you prefer the RX8 over the S2K, so therefore I don't think this is a bad trade at all. It will certainly give you more variety then you have now, as you'd gain a car with some good muscle and straight line power.

The RX8 is the better car to keep from a financial standpoint, so it's great that you like it more. You have a lot more leverage on a trade in deal with the S2K because they will desire that car as a trade, and give you a good amount for it.

The old gen G35 is much to soft and the steering just isn't direct and sharp. I dunno about the new G35.

The 350z track did win best in class in Car and Drivers new track comparo. It outlapped a Evo MR.

I've driven both the 350Z and G35 several times before I got my RX-8. Yes, they have more available torque, but damn, they are heavy. I just hated the feel. I personally think both of them look much better than the RX-8, but the RX-8 feels better when to drive. The S2000 is awesome. To me it is the best among all the three we are talking about here. I would be surprised if somebody who likes the S2000 will like the 350Z or the G35...
