Just because a company has been contracted to make "Stingray" badges does not mean they are going on the "Blue Devil" or "SS" Corvette. The "Stingray" name has a lot of history and with all the retro products being launched by the Big 3, it's no surprise that GM would go retro with the Vette. The "Stingray" name was given to the newly designed 1963 Vette (same design through 1967). GM continued to use the "Stingray" name after 1967 even though the 1968-1982 are considered the "Mako Shark" design. It's highly likely the "Stingray" nameplates will be used on all Vettes like it was in the 60's. The versions will be Stingray, ZO6 Stingray and maybe an SS.

 

I thought there was a rumor that a V-6 Kappa car named the Stringray may come out as well. Hmmmm......

 

100,000 dollars? Why wouldn't you get a regular C6 or Z06 and do the boosting yourself for much less money?

I wonder why Chevy didn't use the 7.0L in the Z06 and boost that? Maybe there wasn't enough room.

Having flogged a Z06, as well as an owner of an original Stingray, all I can say is "DAMN"

 

If i had the money to buy ZO6 i would get this monster

 

Damn, there reaches a point where the car is too crazy for the driver. A midly tuned 1993 R1 CYM FD (320 bhp maybe 280 whp) and a ton of wiehgt reduction/ handling mods would be my dream car.

 

The 6.0L LS2 and 7.0L LS7 blocks have the same castings with the exception of a few non drilled holes. But your question makes sense in a different way. You throw heads/cam/headers/hiflow cats/CAI/exhaust/tune/ported intake & throttle body on an LS7 and you can make about 650hp at the crank normally aspirated, but at a price quite a bit cheaper than $100,000. With good tuning and the right cam, I bet you could get to it through emissions testing.

This new "StingRay" Vette should be right with the F430, Ford GT, Carrera GT and SLR MacLaren. Only problem will be getting the power down, as it was with the 725hp Lingenfelter Twin Turbo.

 

Wide tires......... VERY wide tires, and I'm guessing a carbon fiber(or REALLY light) body or something.

 

Yah, the Lingenfelter TT had 345/30ZR19's on the back, and only managed an 11.6 sec quarter. The interesting part is that it trapped at 136mph, faster than a Ferrari Enzo.

A good majority of the Z06 is already carbon fiber, aluminum, and even magnesium. It's a pretty well known fact that the floor panels are balsa-wood skinned in carbon fiber. At 3150lbs, I'm not sure where you're going to cut too much more weight.

 

lingenfelter needs to lower the boost for the first gear (maybe even partial boost for 2nd) then full for 3rd and so on. didn't they even launch that car in 2nd gear and still fry the tires?

There's no way they CAN, unless they happen to have a race track in their neighborhood or have no qualms about the possibility of getting their license shredded by the traffic court. The limits of even a stock Corvette are so high that you can't exercise them to their full potential on the street.

Basically, you could say this about the owners of any cars that can perform on the level of a Corvette (or beyond). Even giving an RX-8 a proper workout can have any number of imaginable bad endings.
