DIY: Leather e-brake handle for cheap

Hey all:

While I'm at it, I thought it is time to give back an idea to the club for some low cost customization. I happen to have a red/black interior but this idea could work for all.

-Find a local place that deals with leather seating, couches etc.
-Ask to buy a remnant or left over piece in the color of your interior (red, chaparral, blk).
-Trace a pattern of your hand brake lever and cut it out.
-Go to a craft store and buy 3M spray adhesive and coat the underside of the leather.
-Attach to the hand brake and you have what Mazda is selling for almost $200 for a fraction of the price. Under $20.

And by the way the red shif ****, also leather cost only $17.

Enjoy

How sturdy is the leather on the hand brake? I would think that the spray adhesive wouldn't hold really hard....

It's very sturdy...3M #77 adhesive along with a flexible piece of leather and it is permanent. I live in FL where humidity and heat are the norm. No problem.

Nice little DIY - so good, in fact, that I'm moving it to the DIY forum. Good job! :D
