CA Turblown complete top mount Turbo kit

Category: Engine - Power Adders
Price: $2500
Private or Vendor Listing: Private Listing
Part Fits (you may select multiples): Series I
Location (US State/Canada/Int): CA
Item Condition: Used

LOCAL SALE: San Diego CA
The Turbo was custom fitted on a Series 1 manual but fit my automatic just fine. It has a few thousand miles on it but has shaft play. I did not measure it but the car was boosting fine @ 10 lbs before removal. My friend who inspected the turbo said it would need to be rebuilt. Eliot at Turblown.net said a full rebuild with bearings would cost $400 and include a warranty and be basically brand new.

Chris @ Turblown custom fits them to the vehicle before shipping. The attached thumb is my actual turbo fitted on a Series 1 manual. This turbo is legit, unlike the defunct Greddy fiasco, this unit is still in production and a bit more expensive. Turblown Top Mount Rx-8 Turbo System - Turblown Engineering.

It should be everything you need for 425rwp minus black halo coils, fuel pump possibly, colder plugs and upgraded radiator. Click the link for more info. I had my COB AP tuned at MM in Arizona. Vehicle shipping was ~$350. Turbo kit = $6500 + $4000 accessories = $10,000 Total value. $2500 should be fair considering the turbo needs $400 in repair work and the AP is cracked

Turblown kit details:
1) A water cooled Garrett Gt35R journal bearing hybrid turbocharger
2) Our 3 into 1 custom made heavy wall 304SS turbo manifold
3) A TurboSmart 40mm vband wastegate.
4) A 3" 304SS downpipe that employs a 3" flex bellow for engine movement.
5) Custom Stainless oil & coolant feed/return hard lines are included
6) A custom fabricated front mounted intercooler using a genuine Garrett Core.
7) includes required piping, T-bolt clamps, and high quality silicone couplers.
8) An oil metering pump block off kit & relocation bracket.
9) A coolant reserve tank relocation bracket. (? I may have just used my own method)
10) A protective 3M Gentex wiring harness thermal sleeve.
11) A custom aluminum thermostat upper and lower hard line assembly is included
12) An ambient air intake system featuring a recirculated blow off valve
13) I might still have the 9 leading spark plugs
14) NEXUS TRANS TEMP 100-260
15) NEXUS OIL TEMP 140-300 F
16) NEXUS BST/VAC 30HG/30PSI
17) Racing Beat Ash Tray Gauge Pod
18) Turblown Turbo Housing Heat Shield + inconel shield
19) Rotary Performance ‘Supercat’ Mid Pipe
20) Turblown Injector Dynamics ID2000
21) Turblown AEM Water/Meth Injection
22) Boost a pump
23) COB Access Port

Are you sure this mounts up on a manual RX8? I recall that you had an auto RX8 and had some transmission/hesitation issues. Also, if the turbo needs repair work it'd be best to specifically state what turbo model it is etc. some more kit details too; don't see an intercooler/piping or any mention of one etc.

I'm contacting turblown@gmail.com however you can go ahead and call the shop for info about the kit. I also provided a link with kit details directly from their site. The transmission is fine. The kit made too much power for the automatic transmission but has no issues now that I converted everything back to stock.

You're asking too much for the Cobb AP however.
And the Supercat is not worth the material it's made out of IMO
(and yes I owned one)

I totally love that manifold.

The price for the entire kit is in the heading. The prices I listed in the thread are the MSRP that I paid. I'd rather sell as a complete kit. And the RP pipe is required as a cat would overheat or put too much back pressure on the engine I'd imagine. I never had a problem with it. It's metal, it bolts on to things. It does its job.

Posting a link is not the same as actually stating what's included. Even "I may be missing something" is not clear to what exactly you mean or are referring too. Not trying to be difficult, there are some vague points that need clarifying to actually determine the value to cost ratio (regardless of what some drunk guy said without asking any questions ... )

Still a great starting point if you accept it's not plug and play and do some work

More like plug and boom. What turbo are you looking at that doesn't require dyno tuning? Did Greddy fix their engine blowing e-manage?

I'm not sure how you put a value on the custom fitted piping because I don't think Turblown provided part numbers or prices for individual items in the kit. Study the kit, call turblown and ask questions. They are hand made when ordered and takes 12 weeks. You can see exactly what you're getting in the picture I provided. It is a complete kit with most the items listed on the link and accessories listed in the thread like the ID2000 injectors, boost a pump etc. The site has been updated since I purchased this unit over a year ago so I don't have some of the items on the link like an EGR and lower radiator hose for instance (I used my original). But if you look at the kit, specs, and accessories I listed with prices, that gives you a really good idea of what I have. Ask me specific questions so I can try and answer them for you.

He charged you 750$ for the heat shield! What a crook. Do you have all the piping?

This should help get things back on topic.

Von,

Please list ALL the items you will be shipping the member (buyer) at the conclusion of this sale.

Anything less leads people to believe they are getting something they are not. Please be as specific as possible.

Thanks

Travis

What about engine management? Just using the Cobb AP in conjunction with the OEM ECU or is another piggyback management system required?

What turbo is this? What's the compressor? Compressor housing?

I am guessing the hotside is gt35 - a/r would be nice to know...

Also the R designation is used to designate ball bearings - not journals

Inconsistent info. ..

The turbo info is just a copy paste from the Turblown website. I am sure he doesn't really know. So I would contact Turblown.

Yes it's still for sale but local sale only. That way there's no confusion and you know what you're buying.
