Angry I Don't Have A F****ng Ipod!!!!!

OK, IPod Rant. I understand that the Apple Product is the preffered mode of transportable music for much of the general public, but my needs go past simple music storage and playing. For my purposes, a Dell pocket PC was the way to go, because I can play all of my music as well as organize my life, check my e-mail, recieve GPS voice command directions, take and store photo's, etc....

My problem is, there is no way (at least that I have seen) to connect this damn thing to my 8 without loosing sound quality. An FM modulator seems hardly worth the effort since even the hard wired ones sound like...well...the music is coming through an FM station.

I am so sick of all the IPod specialty equipment!!!!! Isn't there something like the Ice Link for a regular MP3 player?!?!?!

Basically, you can hard wire an input to your stock radio. I have a Phillips HDD 100 mp3 player. I just plug it in and it works fine. There's some instructions around here on how to mod the factory stereo. Sodering is required, and so is alot patience. Oh yeah with this mod you can plug in almost anything with a sound output.

Problem with any kind of hack is that you are also required to give up any right to a warranty on the oem head unit. I'm not willing to do that.

The PIE/Apline solution to ad an RCA input to the stereo by tapping an unused port on the back of the radio should give you an Aux-in (via RCA). This is what a lot of us have done for MP3 or XM connectivity.

Hey, does anyone know how to figure out if your firmware is at least 9.55?

To figure out ur firmware

As per MazdaRadioDoc, to check your head unit's software code: Power the radio on, then press and hold the text and preset 1 buttons at the same time (you might need to start pressing the text button slightly before the preset 1 button). The Software version should be in the display. '04 vers. 9.40/9.50/9.53/9.55, and '05 ver. 9.67 (poss. SAT compatible).
If its below then 9.55
