does anyone know exactly what color they use for the paint for the 19 inch R3 rims?

 

Not sure you will be able to find it. I searched quite a bit last year and called a few places. The dealership did not know and MazdaNA did not know or would not tell me.

 

Send a note to Tommy at Finishline Performance (Rosenthal Mazda), with your VIN, and he'll probaby be able to tell you. He was able to with my Shinka rims.

 

I'd be interested if you get a paint code. I sent them an email as well and they never responded so maybe it was a busy week and they forget to respond.

 

Has anyone found out what the code is?

 

I doubt the dealer has access to this information and highly doubt they had a paint code for Shinka wheels either. This just is not info that is released. What you can do though is call around and find a high end paint and body place that has a paint scanner. That is what they did on my bosses rare 21" AMG wheels and they got it perfect.

 

I was unable to get the paint code from Mazda or BBS. The paint shop I used does a lot of work for a local Mazda dealership and they borrowed a R3 for the day and mixed the paint to match.

 

try corvette zr1 wheel color or even jeep cherokee srt8 have similar color that will look as good

 

I have yet to see anyone being able to get remotely close to the depth of Shinka and R3 wheels. Most come out looking like a opaque grey. Good luck and get back to us when you do find something that is at least close to the depth of either color. I would like to eventually redo my stockers...

 

After weeping softly to myself upon finding that I'd lightly rashed the lip on one of the wheels on my R3, I set out to find a paint match.
Mazda was of no help, but I discovered a bottle of Toyota 1E3 "Phantom Grey Pearl" touch-up at my local Canadian Tire that is as close as an OE match would ever likely be.

 

Mazda does not list any paint colour codes for their painted Alloy Wheels, never have.

But I have found from Mazda Europe parts that they list the R3 wheels with the name of colour.

9965-04-8090 19 inch....They call the colour GUN METALLIC.

This is the only wheel where they give an actual name to it for Series II RX-8 (R3).

My limited edition wheels on my MX-5 (chrome paint look) Mazda parts call them ''BRIGHT'' painted.

That is the best I can do...

I have no idea what paint code "Gun Metallic" is, can anyone remember if Mazda ever did a body colour of this name?...I can't just yet??...have to sleep on it..

There doesn't seem to be a paint code for the wheels. Some people think it's the same as BBS Anthracite, but I haven't seen those wheels side by side. For touch up, there is a Toyota paint that many recommend, and I even bought, but I never got around to trying. I had all 4 wheels refinished professionally, and they had to custom blend a match.

 

I just used Toyota P/N 00258001E321 touch up paint on mine. It's an almost perfect match.
