Mazda posts increases for 2006

Mazda Canada sold 81,000 vehicles in 2006- more than it has ever in any other year. Strong sales of the Mazda3(2nd best selling car in Canada) and not suprisingly the Mazda5.

http://mazdanews.com/node/view/394

and Mazda North America as a whole posted a 4% increase for 2006 vs 2005 with total vehicle sales of 268,786 with a 3.9% increase for Dec 06 vs Dec 05.

MAZDA3 and MAZDA5 both recorded their best Decembers ever. MAZDA3 reported 7,096 units sold, up 3.0 percent over last year, and the MAZDA5 recorded 1,131 units sold, up 9.7 percent versus 2005. In addition, the MAZDA6 registered an increase in sales of 23.0 percent compared to last December.

researching what sold better than the Mazda3 in canada

Ford F series may have been the best selling vehicle car or truck on booming truck sales in Alberta. Ford posted an 8% gain for the year in canada(while being down in the US)

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servl...Story/Business

and it appears the Honda Civic is the best selling car over the Mazda3. it was a tight race with Mazda3 selling better for part of the year. 70,028 civics vs 47933 mazda3s. Of course losing those 3s on the Cougar Ace didnt help- but Mazda simply cant produce enough 3s to beat the civic without sacrificing other production.

You're rght -- it was actually down 36.3%. I wonder what the 2007 numbers will look like now that we know there's not going to be any real changes.

I'd really like to see Mazda break 300K. They've been stuck at around the mid point of 250K for a long while.

Thats probably due to plant capacity... In other words, they're maxed out until they build more plants.

That dancing graphic is so unintimidating

we own the twisties and dance around in circles. lol

But the z's are turning into to mustangs.
I compare mustangs to cockroaches, They're everywhere

thing is they prolly should sacrifice some production, knocking off the civic would be a windfall for mazda that would open doors to more manufacturing and more mainstream acceptance. Everyone needs some zoom zoom, and if the public gives mazda the cash they can put more zoom zoom in across the line . Think for the future of the company not the present. Honda and toyota got big on the american map with their small car. No erason why mazda can't make that leap from niche market to mainstream.

rather stay niche imo. i like being unique......think of anyone who says "i own a honda civic" and think of the crap they must get.

i dont want "being another honda owner" to be like owning a mazda. mazdas should be for people who like their zoom zoom! not ppl who wanted to be conservative and blend in.....honda, toyota....cough cough

I just want to make sure they can make the case for rotary engined cars. I don't know about anyone else on this thread but I'm a die-hard Mazda rotary fan. Success for the company as a whole is paramount but I wonder how they view the financial performance of their sole RX vehicle and how that may affect seeing another in the future. It is VERY important to me to see more rotary vehicles in the future and at the present sales rate of the 8 none of you need to worry about it becoming too common. I just wish they were selling 1000 or more a month.

My 2 cents.

Paul.

I agree, but the rx-8 is a 4 year old sports car, without any facelift and improve performance why is anybody going to buy one?

If I were in the market for an RX8 I would wait it out until the second production year of whatever Mazda does next. Why would anyone want something late in its production cycle only to tell themselves a year or so later should have waited. My concern is that I don't have a warm fuzzy feeling on Mazda's plan for the car, no hints, spy shots, no nothing other than them saying they're committed to the engine and it's the soul of blah blah. That 36% should be higher IMO.

It's funny to think there are more BMW's sold than Mazda's.

So much for buying a BMW to be exclusive.
