i just bought an Rx-8 with a code P2259, i know what it is but i want to know if this is easy for an average Joe to replace?. should i take it to a mechanic and have them fix it?
also does this in any way!! affect my performance, i have checked the 14 listings here but they never mentioned if it affects there performance, so any input would would be nice.
thanks

Assuming it's the air pump solenoid, it's only used when you first start the car to get the exhaust up to temp quicker for emissions, so you'd be okay.
I personally would get it solved and it would be an easy replacement.................if that's it.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong on any of my info.
Might want to send a PM to G3tR3DDY2GR3DDY as he's probably got some laying around or in the car he's apparently parting out.

The little wire harness for the solenoid could also be the cause, its happened before.
I would disconnect it, spray the connector with some electrical/contact cleaner, reconnect it and clear the code.
Also, if you installed an aftermarket intake like AEM or MS and do not use the VFAD, you can use the VFAD solenoid in place of the AIR solenoid.

on my mx6 it was simple but this seem complex

its not that hard, the bumper comes off with little confusion. There are alot of rx8 owners on here from miami I am sure one of them would help you if you asked. check the regional forums to find the miami thread.
I had the same code when I was at the dealer and we cleaned the connections and it cleared itself lol
so good luck to you
