I'm so disappointed not being there

Magic8 09-12-2004 06:09 PM

Tell that not true the last Sevenstock??!! :(

I couldn't make it the last two but I really want to make it to future events. I wonder what we can do to help ensure the event will happen in the future.

09Factor 09-12-2004 08:19 PM

Mazda said last years SevenStock would be the last....
Hmmmmmm:rolleyes:

Toadman 09-12-2004 10:48 PM

Doesn't mean they will not support it. Just that it may have out-grown the facilities it's been held at for a few years. The venue is bursting at the seams. ;)

Thanks for posting that!

Reading that article almost brought tears to my eyes, as I was at the very first SevenStock in San Dimas. Amazing how far it has come!

Todd,
Great post. It was cool to see how far Sevenstock has come.

We really should encourage mazda to get more involved with this as it truly is an awesome experience.

well i think a ROTORSTOCK held at Laguna Seca is a damn good idea!! dont you?:):)

Nemesis8 09-14-2004 02:52 PM

Damn good idea, and a hell of allot closer for me to drive to. Lets start a drive to get this done. How do we do it?

Well Rotorstock is already an event in Europe, that RotaryNews.Com helped along... so the name won't work.

On Laguna, it's cool, but logistically incredibly tough... no budget for Mazda to move so many properties to the track. Also, there would be a lot less OLD SKOOL representation which is an integral part of SevenStock!

Take it to El Toro Airbase like Rev it Up... Have test drives on future Mazda vehichles, bleachers with track area where we can see the 787B in action... :P Ok I can dream a bit...

You now, apparently, have to manually check the "show sig" button (see mine is below). Look in the suggestions forum for more info.

I know he is a reporter and not a rotary enthusiast, but he got a couple facts wrong (I believe NSU sold a rotary, and was the Cosmo the first rotary car Mazda sold? I thought it was something else...). Correct me if I'm wrong :P

The El Toro Marine ACB is something we have looked into, as is the air station with the hangers. Both are highly restricted at the moment, as far as access and rental, but we have tried. I do like the idea of the Tustin air-station on REDHILL, because back in the day, I've attended VARA vintage races thier, that included a huge show and track activity, but the restricted nature of the base and the FEE we would have to charge for entry alone, would keep a lot of folks away. People make a huge commitment as it is, in time and money to come. We'd rather keep it free and have folks support by donating to the SS and JDRF funds. This year all parties did well as far as contributions! Thanks to all who attended and supported!

We are not sure as to a future event, but all of the support and dissapointment about a future event, might just motivate us to do it again!

The R-100 was the first officially recognized Rotary vehicle sold in the states by Mazda, but things didn't really start rolling for Mazda until the RX-2 came along.

A Parking fee wouldn't be too bad.. that would cut down on the cost of renting the area. That way if cost was an issue, they can either caravan or take the bus over.

At the Racing Beat event, they said that all the shirts from this year was sold-out.. will there be more? (I purchased mine, but wanted info for other people that wasn't able to purchase one before it sold out.)

A parking fee, after we rent the place and get sponsorship would still be $30+ to make up for all of the RENTAL and INSURANCE we would need. On taking the bus or caravaning in someone elses ride... that would defeat the purpose... you want to come display your ride....

On the shirts, were are thinking of doing a limited run of shirts to help all of the folks who did attend or just plain missed the sale at the booths on Saturday! Details coming soon!

As long as the profits of the limited run go towards next year. :)

Insurance and Liability is a real $$$ sticking point. As the rotary re-gains in popularity(and it is with a new generation of owners), iIt's going to be difficult to keep it a grass-roots organized endeavor. It's too large now to fade away due to lack of interest, yet not at the point of transition of being a quasi-NOPI event. And MNAO doesn't seem committed to funding a full sponsorship at this time, but things may change. I hope.
