R3 Winter Tires

It's been a while since I visited the forums due to school and what not but has anyone gotten Winter tires for their R3 yet? I've been looking around on Tire Rack and Kijiji and whatnot to find a decent set of Winters but have yet to find one for the right price.

Any suggestions?

So far I'm looking at the Blizzak WS70 Blackwall 225/45R18 with just some cheap 18x7.5 Flat Focal F05s.

It comes to $1200 for the set but then shipping and etc brings it all up to $1600. I was kind of hoping to find something local with similar specs and I live in Calgary, Alberta.

Oh and it's snowing next week so I'm in somewhat of a rush ... ahhah :(

check with Rishie at autoRND.com
Quick shipping and very nice prices. Although, I'm not sure if they deal with winter tires lol.

If you hurry, TireRack is blowing out their remaining stock of Blizzak LM-25 tires at $125 a piece. For $500 plus shipping, you can have a darn nice snow tire on your R3.

Fewer than 10, so act quick.

BC.

I found some 17inch G35 steelies (sanded and repainted black, looks like new) and I bought Hankooks I-pikes (215/60-17, Ya, Their big lol, lifts me up a little from the ground, sized for a dodge journey, tend to scrape, just a little when the wheels a cramped all the way out), drove all winter last year and never got stuck, alot of fun in the storms, And I live in Mont-tremblant Quebec so we can get up to a couple of meters of snow in a season and mountains up/down S roads. this size tire and rim works perfect for me. you dont want to go to wide with winter tires, you want more weight per inch to the ground for traction in snow.

Damn, I would not enjoy that.

I've done the calculations and mathematically it seems like it'll fit the 2009 R3.

Just wanted to double check with people. 235/60R18 Hankook I Pike RW 11.

EDIT: Just added the links to all the winter sets I found interesting.

RX8Soldier 11-16-2011 10:18 AM

regarding the links- do you know the wheel size/offsets?
Or, are you just getting the rubber?

scmKORE 11-16-2011 04:18 PM

No, I'm waiting for wheel size/offset numbers from them right now. As far as price goes do you think it's worth it? they have about 70% tread left on the tires.

Don't forget to monitor the FS ads here. Seems like there are often used winter tires/wheels with not much mileage on them going cheap. Happens when guys decide to sell their car.

scmKORE 11-16-2011 10:20 PM

probably gettin the cx7 ones, the rims are stock from the cx7 thats all they know and the tire sizes are listed there. its pretty much brand new as far as tread goes, wadda ya guys think?

18x7.5 with 50mm offset
235/60R18 Hankook I Pike RW 11 tires

... all for 800

scmKORE 11-17-2011 07:42 PM

nevermind about the cx7 ones, turns out the height of the entire thing is 3 inches bigger than the stock r3's.

looking at the semperit since its almost an exact match, not 100% sure about the offset on it though

scmKORE 11-18-2011 12:31 PM

semperit is kind of far away from me ... like almost a 1 hr drive normally so a 3 hr drive in this crappy weather so im probably going to go pick up these assuming that the offset and width of the rims are okay. guy apparently lives like 5 minutes away from me so ill know when i go check it out.

http://calgary.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehi...AdIdZ318975804

the offset and width are perfectly fine on the semperit ones though so its either those for 800 or the icebears for 400. any suggestions?

I live in NYC. we get it all. rain, snow, dry, wet, slick , bumps, pot holes........ I use Conti Extreme DWS All Seasons.... I can drive in snow rain , dry ,, you name it, no wheel changes, handle well, wear well, look great, and highly rated!

nowakm99 08-04-2014 05:36 AM

The Contis sound like they are good all season tires, but these will always be a compromise. This is why all seasons are often referred to as 'no seasons'. They strike a balance between summer and winter grip, but in my opinion the compromise is simply too great.

All seasons are definitely convenient, but will not enable you to experience the full potential of the car.
