New rims for the R3

So about a month ago I went over to ntb to to get an oil change and have them re-balance my tires and find out that 2 of my rims were bent. Now I'm in the market of getting new rims and was looking at a couple. I was looking at the Advantage B2 Denaro black and the BE Breton GTF2...both 19in. Now I was wondering if any of you guys have heard of these companies or used there rims and want to know what you guys think. Now I know you can but r3 rims from ebay but you never if they are bent or not since the seller may or may not know. I was leaning towards the Denaro cuz they are $200 cheaper but I don't know if that's because of the quality. If you guys can help me out that would be great.

Both advanti and be breyton are crap brands. If you want good cheap wheels take a look at what OZ and Enkei have to offer.

usiris208 05-08-2012 08:17 AM

ok so 1st off i only use my car as a daily driver 2nd how are OZ and Enkei cheap. i was also looking at the Platinum Monarch.

bse50 05-08-2012 08:18 AM

OZ and Enkei wheels are fairly cheap.

Chris 05-08-2012 08:19 AM

thats not to say that they are bad rims. just cheaper than others. and there are far cheaper wheels than oz and enkei as well

usiris208 05-08-2012 08:28 AM

im going off tirerack.com and looking to stay with 19in wheels so for my price range OZ and Enkei are not even an option due to price

bse50 05-08-2012 08:30 AM

Straightening your wheels will be cheaper than buying shitty wheels that are only good for ricers.
R3 wheels should be made by BBS. Going with the crappy brands you mentioned is a nonsense!

fuztupnz 05-08-2012 08:31 AM

I'll give you $400 for all 4 of your R3 wheels

Chad D. 05-08-2012 08:42 AM

I'll give you $450

usiris208 05-08-2012 09:30 AM

ok well since the 19in rims from oz and enkei are a bit much for me what good brands would you suggest from

http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/resul...rSpecial=false

also how are advanti, be, and Platinum crap? it doesnt really help your case if you can back up why they are crap.

slvrstreak 05-08-2012 09:34 AM

Enkeis are pretty cheap for a good QUALITY wheel
how do you afford an R3 but won't pay <$1000 for nice wheels
solution: sell the 2 R3 wheels and buy 4 new quality wheels

slvrstreak 05-08-2012 09:35 AM

crap because they are
cheap, heavy, cast, weak
^ take your pick

Chris 05-08-2012 09:37 AM

it comes down to how they are built (ie forged, cast, etc.) most of the crap wheels aren't made strong so they will bend with ease. Leaving you with a heavy bent/wobbling, crap looking wheel.

enough back-up? I could go on but I feel like this information is all over the internet

usiris208 05-08-2012 09:45 AM

ty im just asking why they are crap...i dont know much about wheels and starting to get into it. so when i see someone saying something is crap i expect a little more info cuz im sure im not the only one here that might be looking for new rims.

slvrstreak 05-08-2012 09:48 AM

bingo!
and that's why we have the search function
there's a TON of info on wheels and quality in this forum :)

Chad D. 05-08-2012 09:54 AM

sell me your r3 rims and use that extra money to buy some decent rims.
I'm building a tire trailer and r3 rims would be great for that.

bse50 05-08-2012 10:01 AM

I don't have to back up what I say. Google has enough information ;)
Wheels have to be strong (as in "stiff" as well) and lightweight . Cheap wheels aren't neither stiff nor strong, they are often heavy though.
Furthermore. Wheels of the same diameter, weight, offset and width but different quality\designs can result in different laptimes.

Super expensive wheels are useless, spending the right amount is a must though.

brilliantblackrx8 05-08-2012 10:13 AM

Step up, not down. Sraighten your rims, there are many places to get that done.

usiris208 05-08-2012 10:14 AM

ok so what should i be staying away from when looking?cast made?

brilliantblackrx8 05-08-2012 10:20 AM

go with flow form cast such as some of the Enkei's Forgestar's etc for cast. I don't know what your price range is to determine much else.

brilliantblackrx8 05-08-2012 10:33 AM

Your wheels are pretty light and made by BBS, I am not a big fan of wheel swaps on R3's because of it, but hey it's your ride, and yes you should stay away from most cast wheels. On another note, just because something is forged doesn't mean it's all that either. Looks like your into 5-spoke type wheels for your ride, so look for a clean light weight rim regardless. Try not to go cheap, often times you can look on places like wheelflip for used decent sets at reasonable prices, and please search more in the tire and wheel threads, that is where you will find more info on what works for your car.

I also suggest getting your OEM wheels fixed. I think many here don't realize that these places return the wheels to absolute new condition for way less than the cost of new rims. I've used both of these places and couldn't be more pleased:

oem wheels are going to be some of the best wheels you could buy for strength. They are designed to take the beatings of daily driving. I would also recommend getting the stock wheels fixed.

Have you looked at Rotas?

They are in the same price league as what you're looking at, but much better quality.

Chad D. 05-08-2012 11:02 AM

or just buy a used set of bbs/advan/works and sell me or fuz your damaged R3 set.
