Garageline Wheel Spacers 25mm
Hey guys, yesterday I was putting on my 25mm spacers and as I put on the wheel disaster struck. One of the caps on the OEM lug nuts broke and the top of the wheel lock cracked off :wallbash:. I torqued the lug nuts with a torque wrench at 70lb/ft as per instructed. Di I do something wrong? Does this mean that the OEM lug nuts will not work with these spacers? And do I need to get extended lug nuts or open ended ones? Any help is appreciated, thanks guys :worship:

picture?
Trying to understand what you mean by "one of the caps on the oem lug nuts broke" ... so did the actual wheel stud break? were you able to remove the wheel lock? 25mm spacers should have their own studs, and you shouldn't have any issues. Make sure you torque down in a star pattern. |
It sound like the studs on the spacers are longer than the OEM or your wheels are different. You can make the OEM lug nuts open just like you did. They are just a small metal cap (the acorn). The wheel lock though you'll have to replace.

ah i get what you are saying now ... damn ... how long are the studs on those TXS spacers??

Get some open ended lug nuts. I have muteki sr48s and I like em.

No worries...Torque the other four lug nuts properly - even if the caps come off.
On the wheel lock - go find a local shop/garage/friend who has wheel lock removal sockets or twist sockets and you will be able to get that broken wheel lock off. |
you need something like this for pesky (and broken) wheel locks
Craftsman 3 pc. Flip Socket Set with Red Pouch - Tools - Ratchets & Sockets - Sockets & Socket Sets Here's a picture of the one I have: http://c.shld.net/rpx/i/s/pi/mp2/414...ebee6fa725da8a |
Thanks guys for your help Ill do that and ill get that socket to remove the broken wheel lock.
