235/40 on the stock rims

Anyone try this? I'd like to put a bit more rubber on the ground with a tad shorter sidewall. I know 245 is correct but I don't wanna go that big. Speedo will read a tad high but I'm most concerned with the steering response. The 235 size really opens the door as far as available hipo rubber!

Meh, why that size. 245/40-18 is better fit.

The Reverend 08-17-2010 03:30 PM

yeh used to run 235/40 federal 595's

Spin9k 08-17-2010 05:06 PM

I had 235s, works great, perhaps lil better acceleration due to smaller size. I tracked / street drove RX-615s like this for a couple years.

shadycrew31 08-17-2010 05:11 PM

I run 235's all around.

Beefy98 08-17-2010 07:48 PM

Cool. I'm choosing between 190 dollar Star Specs, 264 buck PS2s, and 233 clam AD08s. They are 26, 22, and 25 lbs, respectively. The stock Dunlop 2050s are 25.

R-X 08-17-2010 11:09 PM

i am running 235 all around on a 18x8.5 buddy club rims works great .on 18x8 should be good. i would highly recommend "Nitto Nt-05". 200 tread wear,AA traction,A Temp. 3 ply sidewall.:icon_tup: i used to run 245 and 255 but if your car dose not have extra power .i would go with 235 for over all performance .

pcs 08-20-2010 03:11 PM

had 245/40/18 nitto nt-05's, got them for $167 per... might be a good option...

Beefy98 08-20-2010 08:54 PM

I see that the 235/40 would put me another half-inch lower! Thats 2 inches along with my lowering. Could I even get up the Rhinos then?

wonder if running 245/35R19's wound hurt the driftability of my car.

I was wondering the same. The cost difference is huge from going from the 225 to a 245/40/19

but 245/40R19 has a slightly smaller diameter tho, so should be pretty easy to brake traction.

Beefy98 09-06-2010 01:48 AM

a 245/35 is the correct plus zero. a 245/40 is larger in diameter.

The Reverend 09-06-2010 02:02 AM

im confused yall were talking about stock rims then suddenly changed to 19's :scratchhe

Rootski 09-11-2010 06:50 PM

I ran 245/40/R17 (yeah, 17) Falken Azenis RT-615's. Fantastic setuo, I recommend it. Don't waste money on all-seasons.
