You know how, if you get out the car while the engine is running, it beeps? (on keyless entry models.)

What does it mean when you lock the car, go to the trunk, close the trunk and it does that beep endlessly?

Happened to me today and didn't shut up until I opened then locked the door again, but I'm sure it was locked the first time.

Anyone know?

Eh, bumping this because I figured it out. Long beeping means the battery in the remote is really close to dying.

It did it again a day ago, and the remote died within a few minutes of the long beep. Now that I think about it, the last time it did this, I had to replace the battery then too.

So yeah - long beeping means change your remote battery ASAP.

Was your other key card in the car by chance? That happens if you lock the car and the other fob is inside. Or, maybe it just got confused and thought your key was inside the car.

Are you sure the car locked the first time before you opened the trunk? The door might've been slightly ajar.

Or you slammed the trunk too hard and it was mad at you...

Did you lock the car with the truck still open? I did that once with the passenger door still open (wife taking her sweet *** time) and the car wasn't happy. I think its letting you know that even though you want to lock the car it wont lock because there is something still open.

Hmm. Probably the door wasn't closed all the way. I found it somewhat funny. It wouldn't shut up. First time I seen it. lol

It also happens if the ignition switch isn't securely in the "off" position.

My car beeps at me if I try to start the engine with the door open. Other than that, I haven't noticed any unusual beeping.

Interesting. Mine didn't do that. I wish it had though. Ended up using the manual slide out key for a few days when the battery unexpectedly died.

It's in the timing I guess. If it died away from the car, it would never know. lol
