Transmission Issue
 

Alright... had this car for about 4 months now. It's my first stick (which comes into play later). Lately whenever I shift at any kind of normal shift speed into 6th, the synchros seem to be slow and it grinds a bit on the side. The only way to get around this is to shift slow. Now, at first I chalked this up to user error, thinking I was just pushing too far to the side to shift down, but others have confirmed the issue. I don't remember the car doing this when I first got it (with 40k miles on it).

Anyone had a similar issue?... And any guess as to whether this would be covered under warranty?

at about 3000 miles my 09 did the same. i had the synchro changed and it fixed it. but mine was under warranty. as i remember there were a couple of other 09 with the same problem. they did give me the standard, it is your driving that caused the problem. when i took it to the dealer the mech that tested the car shifted at the slowest speed i have every seen. later i had the sales rep who sold me the car drive it. but the whole thing took at least month.

My dealer was great regarding mine, but they've treated me well through this RX-8 and my 2005 Mazda3 (may it rest in piece). They looked up the TSB and did the work no questions asked.
