Taking my RX8 to Tahoe in the snow and I would love advise

Hi All,

First off I tried to search for information but I must be doing something wrong. No matter what I put in I get B@W and So CAL lounge posts...

Anyways, I have a 2010 6 speed RX8 and I am planning a trip to Lake Tahoe and I am sure I will hit some snow. My questions are:

1. Is this simply a terrible idea and should I just rent a car?

2. If not can I use snow cables if needed?

3. If yes to two what will my sled handle like in adverse weather condition?

I love this car more each day (I researched this purchase for many months before I bought and you all have been so generous in sharing your knowledge) and I do not want to do anything "ill-advised" yet the thought of a nice road trip is very enticing...

Thanks to all and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!
Yogi

hey Yogi,

It's not a TERRIBLE idea but depending on what tires you have it could be a very "interesting" experience.
Our cars typically come with high performance summer tires which means you will not have much grip in very cold weather an especially in snow.
If you are going to take it, I would think snow chains are a must.
how much experience do you have driving in the snow?

one suggestion when using our search feature is to click on the drop down below where you insert your key words and select 'search thread title only'.

winter tires and you are ok. all seasons are iffy, summers equals death.

If it snows here the eight is getting parked and i'm taking the dually with 800lbs of sand in the bed.

Wash the car underneath with warm water, salt is a bitch :)
