Service Interval on SII?
I'm in NJ, and the dealer insists the service interval is 3,750 mi.
According to the owner manual if I drive the car in ideal conditions, the car gets serviced under Schedule 1 every 7,500 mi - and if I operate the car in an environment that has any one of a dozen conditions (hot outside, cold outside, short drives, dusty, etc, etc) then I'm supposed to observe Schedule 2 every 5,000 miles. I'm using the car normally. Is there any reason (other than enriching the dealer) that I should be servicing the car any more frequently than Schedule 2 in the Owner Manual? Thanks. |
I would follow the owners manual...the dealer is just trying to make more money off of you.

7500 and even 5000 miles is to long. Change your oil every 3000 miles. And the rule of thumb is to check your oil level every other gas fill-up since the 8 burns oil. The dealer is trying to make you car last longer

3,750 Service Interval
Good oil change interval--though a minimum!

First oil change was at 5500 miles. I had that oil tested at Blackstone Labs, which showed acceptable results. I think the A/T cars might be a bit easier on oil (and other service items) in some aspects, as they are much higher geared when cruising in 6th ( and even 5th ), resulting in far fewer revolutions under those conditions.
