S2 bumper license plate light area
 

I had my rear bumper repainted and as I was re-installing it I noticed an open area surrounding the light that shines onto the rear bumper license plate. I went to a Mazda dealership and they aren't seeing a part for it in their database, however that same database seemed incomplete because I noticed other associated parts weren't included either (e.g, switch to open trunk). Here's a pic of the area I'm referring to. Can anyone see if their S2 bumper has this area fully enclosed, or if it is actually open?

hmm, the 157 views must've all been S1 owners. FWIW, the open area is normal

I got my R3 used, but in very good condition. I have a button to open the trunk, but the area is exposed as if a light was supposed to be located there.

Yeah I just checked my car and it's an open cut-out/area. I find it kinda odd too haha

Clearly this is designed to make the S2 lighter and thus more sportier.

Same with mine, it saves some weight. I installed a rear cam there.
