Yep, I drove on the local highway and also took some curves at about 40 MPH. No more wobbling noise.

As mentioned, the old bearing is worn out to the point that I can hear the clacking even when I just turn it by hand. It's toast.

Nothing about that is easy, LOL.

I actually misplaced my hammer and had to ride a bicycle halfway through to buy one at the local Home Depot. I was ill-prepared, to say the least.

And also, an earmuff or noise-canceling headphones are a must if you are whacking it out. The banging is pretty loud.

^ Or, you can use the proper tool for the job and borrow a slide hammer from the auto parts store...

You must be some kind of badass. It took a whole lotta track hours to wear out my hubs, and even then the bearings just started to "sing". No wobbles at all.

Next time I will.

And I am just as confused as you are as to why the bearing is worn out at 60k miles(96k km). My only guess that kind of makes sense is that raccoon I ran over a while ago. Hit it at 40 MPH(64-ish km/h) and it's basically a big solid lump. Otherwise, I've got nothing.

When I say "wobbles", that's just the noise it makes. Kinda sounds like a helicopter.

In my first Rx8 i had a front wheel bearing fail at 55,000 miles. I suspect that it probably failed due to poorly maintained roadways in the areas where the prior owner lived. It just happens sometimes i suppose

It has to be that some are simply out of tolerance or otherwise defective. Think about how many potholes and other hazards are hit daily for years without damaging the bearings in these and other hubs.

Mine failed at 42K miles, but considering the cornering forces and HEAT I applied to them, they lasted a good while.
