Parts Lists - Series 2 Renesis swap to Rx7
I'm basically looking for a list of all the interconnected/coded parts to run as if were on an engine test stand. (Not counting battery, fuel pump, etc.)
After some searching I believe I'll need (from the same car?): Gauge Cluster Key Fob ECU with complete engine harness Not sure what else? All I have currently is a Series 2 engine with stock manifolds/accessories. I want to keep the engine as factory as possible to run on the stock computer. |
Anyone?

You'll need the key, key barrel and ECU from the same car for the antitheft system to work properly. I believe you'll also need the ABS module from the same car, if you plan to have ABS. The rest should be fine.
You'll need the RX8 fuel system also since as I recall RX7s were return-style. You could maybe run return-style on the Renesis, but it's probably easier to run returnless with stock RX8 fuel pressures. |
Do you know if the ECU absolutely needs the ABS unit? or can it be removed from the system? I'm guessing along with the complete engine harness, I would also need the harness behind the dash to connect the ignition and gauges.
I plan to run a traditional return style fuel system. Should be pretty simple to change that. I've read a little on running a series 2 in a series 1 Rx8. Seems like it might be easier to use my Series 2 engine, but with all Series 1 electronics. https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-racing-...rx-8-a-254874/ |
S1 electronics can't drive the S2 OMP and will freak out for absense of S1 OMP. Keep the same generation, whichever one you go with.
I don't think the ABS is required for the rest to run. |
Keep the electronics with the engine it goes with.
I wouldn't think ABS would be required because people do abs delete's. Tried to look one up for the RX8 and couldn't find anything though but I'm pretty sure it's possible |
Just curious, what’s the reasoning behind swapping a renny to the rx7? Only thing I can really think of would be having something against turbos or not being able to source parts to rebuild the rx7 engine |
