Mazda wont cover defect on headlights?
I took in my 8 today to get the headlights checked out again, and they still told me the warranty doesn't cover the hazing caused by chemicals. So they sold me this repair kit that cost me 40 bucks!!!!!!! And it completely F@$KED my headlights now!!!!
Any input guys? |
post pictures..i used to work for mazda and they wouldn't cover mine..lol my recommendation is to take them to a professional body shop and let them prep and clear coat the headlights
|
try some meguiars plasticX then coat it with wax.
its normal wear so its not covered. how could the restoring kit fuck up the headlights? did you use it correctly? |

Wax? Car wax?
And yeah I followed it step by step, they now look just really hazed factory headlights are clear coated, if you use anything thats abrasive will remove the clearcoat. I personally would only use PlasticX to clean them, then coat them with car wax. you can do the same to your wheels and exhausts, brake dust and carbon buildup come off very easily. |
Dude, you should have asked me Sunday. Cal this chick Casi, she does it for $25 and does a great job and comes to you. Sean just had her do his and said they turned out great.

Does he have the HID's? Isn't that on the inside? I searched threads and people had to 'bake" the lense to open. The 04 GT I got has the lens haze issue too.
|
I have had the haze issue forever, I just get them done every couple of months, just another maintenance cost for my 8, haha.

Grrreat, something else to look forward to... I had that issue with my 00' Civic and used Plastic-x. It was good for what it was but you had to reapply about ever 1.5 months...
Has anyone looked into getting that invisi-armor film put on their front end and or lights? When I was getting my tint done there was a guy with an 09' GT-R having it done. It did cost $600 for the whole front end including lights. I don't drive on highways too much so I am not concerned about rock chips but still. If we had this done to our light lenses, would the hazing be avoided? I could see it going both ways as in you get it put on and it still hazes... Thoughts? |

Yeah if I could go back in time I would have had clear laminX put on from the beginning, I suggest you guys do the same. It's cheap and has a warranty. My tint shop quoted me $60.00 for both front lights but the damage was already done.

I've got a light hazing starting to form around my headlights now. I've bought the Turtlewax kit (~$10, I think) but haven't used it yet. If I ever get around to it, I'll post results.
EDIT: This is the stuff: Turtlewax headlight lens restorer - http://www.turtlewax.com/main.taf?p=2,1,4,32 |
Never wax that plastic. Wax turns yellow and penetrates the plastic.
