Help! Something leaking from rear driver's side
Hey everyone,
Geez I just solved my clunking problem but when I was crawling around underneath I noticed that something seems to be leaking. It's coming from the driver's rear. Not exactly sure from where but it's really high up and looks to be from one of these two. Oily substance that is leaking. It's only on the driver's side. If anyone has any idea what this could be I'd really appreciate it. I'm leaving to drive 12 hours to school in 2 days and would really like the peace of mind of having this fixed before I go. Thanks!!!! |
I cant tell where those pics are, but at the rear the only fluids are fuel and differential oil. Maybe bearing grease but thats not likely.

Hmm, ya it's don't think it's the diff because the leakage is above it.
The area is on the driver's side of the diff. Most of the components on that side have oil on them. It's right between the diff and the driver's rear shock and in line with the gas cap. It's weird, the leakage is oily but doesn't have much of an odour, like diff fluid would. |
That's the general area where the evap pump and filter and charcoal canister are. Does it smell like fuel? You could also have a fuel pump outlet leak. I would start there. .. remove the panel under the drivers side rear seat and look for a fuel leak.

Doesn't smell like fuel. It doesn't have a smell at all, it's just oily.
Edit: Alright just looked under again. It's the diff 100%. Leaking from the axle. I'm going to try and pick up a new seal and axle clip, breather. I love her but sometimes she just has to be such a bitch XD Edit: ok so my worry is that I have a 13 hour drive on thursday. Should I be concerned? Should I top off my diff fluid? |
